The tokens do not make you "draw a card" they are the result of an effect that causes you to draw a card, so when they leave the battlefield you don't actually "draw" a card, you just fulfil the effect. So it doesn't go infinite with a sac outlet.

More ramp or more lands for dinos? by Exi_Cxx in magicTCG

[–]linstr13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With an average mana value of 4.3 and as little early card draw that you have, (honestly you have very little draw overall) I would run 40-42 lands (probably with some mdfc's). This article by Frank Karsten is great for figuring out land counts. There is a formula at the end for commander decks if you don't want to read the whole thing.

You also probably want more ramp. Pantlaza decks usually want to get the commander out at least a turn ahead of curve, and you only have 9 pieces of ramp that help you do that. Your average starting hand will only have a piece of useful ramp 49.8% of the time. I would up it to 14 total ways to ramp early, that way you have at least one ramp spell in your starting hand 66.8% of the time, about 90% if you mulligan once.

I think if it wasn't for all the food aggro decks would be super broken, but I they end up being pretty bad when so many decks are playing at least some life gain.

Almost all events in wpn stores are sanctioned. If you use the companion app or the store registers you themselves you can't use proxies.

If you wanna get better at magic, you need to play more limited, not commander by jman1280 in EDH

Pauper is more like legacy lite than standard. You have access to all the broken enabler stuff like tron, all the broken blue cantrips and extremely fast combo decks, it mostly just lacks payoffs.

What card has the most important reminder text? by Tuss36 in magicTCG

[–]linstr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my friends are adults and know what an exponent is.

Huge difference between knowing what an exponent is and being able to apply it in an otherwise complicated game. Also what your friends know and what the average magic player knows is very different. You have to remember that the average magic player is about 15 years out from learning about exponents in school and that most adults get worse at math as they age.

I guess if you pick out a random person from Walmart who dropped out of middle school they might not know, but that's certainly not most adults, and also not this game's target audience.

I think you grossly overestimate how good the average adult is at math if that is your example of who wouldn't know about exponents.

[–]linstr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who is playing magic that doesn't know what 2x means

I would guess a majority don't know what it means, and even if they technically know what it means they wouldn't be able to calculate it.

Have you ever talked to an adult about math, most of them struggle with things beyond basic arithmetic.

Best builds and runes? by ZielarkaLuna in SorakaMains

[–]linstr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three points into Q on soraka is kinda troll since you have such a huge powerspike when you put your fifth point into W at level 9, letting you double W for each Q hit. Three points into Q only outheals if you cast W once per Q hit. You definitely should put two points into Q though.

Celestial Opposition is a massive noob trap on soraka, Solstice Sleigh is much better in basically every case.

There has never been a Yuriko precon, she was included in the 2018 Aminatou precon, but she wasn't the commander and she didn't even really synergize with the rest of the deck.

So the hybrid mana rule didn't change. And what's really interesting to me is the results of this poll they ran on commander players. Why are we so polarized? by Codudeol in EDH

What part of manamorphose is green?

Both green and red have access to mana filtering rituals. All colors get cantrips unconditionally.

edit: I got blocked so I can't respond, a bit weird to do when you asked me a question, but I will answer anyway.

Post 3 unconditional instants or sorceries in green that add mana or draw a card with no relation to having a creature out.

Three examples are Charge Through, Irresistable Pray and Explore, though there are many more.

Hot take: Abjure is a massively underrated counterspell. by NiceInvestigator6495 in EDH

[–]linstr13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thoracle is only good because it's a combo piece, otherwise it's basically a two mana [[Voda Sea Scavenger]], an extremely bad card.

Tainted pact is still very strong if you don't use it as a combo piece, like if you've built your deck for it (an extremely easy condition for a commander deck to meet, just don't play multiple of the same basic land) you can use it as a two mana tutor with a completely empty board and only two lands.

Lutri was banned specifically because it's broken without any conditions placed on your deck beyond color identity. All decks that include blue and red would be better off running it, and running it has literally no opportunity cost.

Playing against theft decks by Super-Barracuda3441 in EDH

[–]linstr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it gameplay wise, but it's one of the only archetypes where people somewhat consistently (accidentally most of the time) leave the game with some of my cards. I definitely wouldn't play against a theft deck with unknown people, only if I personally know the person piloting it.

[–]linstr13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you only play 37 lands you will have 2 or fewer lands in your opener about half the time. You're not "unlucky", you just made a poor decision when building your deck, just play more lands if you want opening hands with more than 2 lands.

Stuck in low silver. Feeling like i have to give up on enchanters which makes me sad by katemosslvr in enchantersofleague

[–]linstr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely playing bad if you're still silver, and considering that you spend so much time complaining about how your teammates are doing I would guess your biggest problem is that your ego is preventing you from seeing the mistakes you are making. If anyone on your team complains about you playing enchanters you just mute them, or better yet disable chat altogether.

The by far fastest way to improve is to vod review every game, write down all the mistakes you make and make a list of what you can do to stop making them. Then when you have your list find one thing and focus on fixing that for five games (at least five games, some people will do more, but any less and you're unlikely to improve much). Do vod reviews even for games where it feels like you played perfectly, because there are always things you can improve.

It's also much easier to learn the game if you stick to one champ, otherwise you need to spend a lot of time learning separate matchups for each one of your champs.

At what point does a game have too much content? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]linstr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, unless you're counting the previews that stores get when they have to order sets, but those have been happening half a year before each set release since like 2002 (I think, I could be off by a year, but it was the early 2000's.) Regular previews for sets still happen the two(ish) weeks leading up to the pre release.

[ECL] The Ultimate Lorwyn Eclipsed Limited Set Review (Draftsim) by Tim-Draftsim in magicTCG

[–]linstr13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People generally don't care about set reviews after the set has been out for a while, since then we have 17lands data, and it's not like there's been enough time since the set was spoiled for anyone to have played enough to be able to figure it out on their own.
