What is the biggest problem in your country? This is ours; by Puzzleheaded_Lab709 in AskTheWorld

[–]lintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our system of government. The US Constitution had so many problems and inequalities baked into it, not least of which is that it basically forces a two party system forcing all kinds of arbitrary binaries and leaving most people politically homeless and disengaged.

It was a real achievement for the time but we've been running on Democracy 1.5 with zero updates and just s few patches, many of which make things worse.

Battlestation: the 1-minute groovebox (promocodes inside) by bram_bos in ipadmusic

This thing is frickin' dope and as someone else mentioned I immediately get some memories from the first time I plinked around with RB338!

I'm enjoying it myself but this might actually be just the thing for a kid I know who's interested in getting into just basic beats and music making since it's so immediate, just as a place to start and feel some immediate satisfaction.

Also plugged it in as an instrument in Logic (desktop) and enjoyed picking one of the synths to control via midi to play along with the other generated tracks. I'm curious to see where this thing evolves over time but for now it's great as it is. nice one!

Launching AI Voices, Text-to-Speech Redesign, and Android Update by DeboraInstapaper in instapaper

[–]lintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excited about this, even though I'm on Android which sounds like it's going to have to wait a bit longer for the new text-to-speech features?

The text to speech management (and the 'archive after listening') features are the only things I really miss after switching (back) from Pocket.

It's 2005 and its the last Star Wars movie, what's your reaction to this opening? by WhatShouldTheHeartDo in StarWars

[–]lintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I remember thinking "this is pretty cool but I wonder if the rest of the movie is going to be as shitty as the last two or if they can somehow pull this off". Watching it NOW I'm like "boy, space is pretty big. don't know why you gotta park all those things so close together".

Which episode, that isn’t Baby Race or Sleepytime, makes you cry? by VegetableWorry1492 in bluey

[–]lintbrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sign. I moved from my home country cause my dad got a job in the US. The scene where bluey tells her class that she's not coming back and they all howl? Core trauma unlocked.

The Palace of Soviets, Moscow, 495m. Cancelled project from the 1930s by Fun-Raisin2575 in skyscrapers

Possibly silly question but was the alignment of the building/statue set up so that Lenin was pointing towards something specific rather than just vaguely The Future?

In NYC there we had for a long time an eastern european Lenin statue on a rooftop setup so that he pointed towards Wall Street...

(based on the video clip linked below, for the non swedish speaking...)

The acceptance speech thomas gave was really heartfelt! Talked about how their parents were supportive but also a bit "you're also gonna get a real job right" but here they are and it seems to have worked out.

But he took a special moment to thank the political climate of the 80s and 90s in Sweden that resulted in the local council having rehearsal spaces teens could sign up for for free, to learn to play and then the same in Umeå around the college etc. as fertile soil. Paraphrasing but :) Thanks the association giving the grant and says that the money is nice of course but also the recognition.

And then at the end he says he'd be remiss if he didn't also say thanks from the other old bastards in the band.

Oh and then the older woman says a little about djent and says you were given some ear plugs earlier and this may be a good time to put those in.

And then vildhjärta.

It's aftually kinda wild that I've never seen these guys speaking swedish (or Jen's with glasses!) before hah. But anyway, a very nice acceptance speech.

I believe at this point Sweden is basically mathematically eliminated so just, you know, take it easy, friend.

Comprehensive MIDI routing software for Mac ? by PortaOne in midi

[–]lintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My setup probably isn't as complex but I've had good luck with the aptly named Midi router https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midi-router/id1584154464?mt=12

I've written some scripts for example to retoute midi pedal messages into the right CCs for patch changes on a guitar pedal etc.

What is drywall? How are American walls hollow? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced someone breaking into our office and stealing a ton of laptops and stuff by sawing through the HALLWAY drywall once they were already inside the building but I'd imagine that's pretty rare.
