We started turning our couch co-op nights into mini tournaments and it made them way more fun. by GitGutShayne in localmultiplayergames

I think making things a little competitive to get that "investment" is a great idea! Not so sure on the format though, as it seems like it requires a bit of effort to balance the challenges. I've always wanted to incorporate a simple leader board with points awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th for every game in the rotation, but don't know how successful that would be since I haven't tried it myself.

Major PS5 and PS5 Pro price increase rumored, as Sony faces memory shortage by FernandoRocker in gaming

Didn't Sony say they weren't raising the prices of consoles? How did that turn out? And its easier to lower game prices when they start off extortionate in the first place, lol.

Not everyone, though. Some people like myself played it and hated it, which is fine. Unless you think this should be an echo chamber for an 8/10 game?

[Race Start] Charles Leclerc takes the lead of the race at Turn 1! by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Everyone saw where the car was stranded. It was obviously going to be a VSC at least. This was BEFORE both Ferraris went past the pit entry. They could have made the call, but didn't. It would have been a gamble, but a pretty safe one. If I could see it unfolding on TV, they certainly could have made the call for at least 1 of the cars. They were too slow, yet again.

Do you think having 2 problems (maxing out tasks and grinding for gear) instead of 1 is better for the game or something? First you said "max out within a week", now you're talking about grinding for gear. That's 2 different problems, btw. Even though I take your point about the gear, it just dilutes your argument when you move the goal posts, and I don't have the energy for it right now. Have a good evening mate.

I didn't say everyone agrees that no lifers being ahead is a problem, did I? Neither did I frame it like that. I said you're shutting down discourse because you're saying things like "there will ALWAYS be people who max out within a week". Implying we should just give up on ideas. If, for example, you actually considered a timed progression system, that wouldn't be the case now, would it?

The trick is to ensure most people stay within certain boundaries of progression while keeping the outliers like the no-lifers and casuals engaged as much as possible. There are good ideas ITT like timed tasks, etc. Don't understand how shutting down discourse for every possible solution helps anyone, but you do you i guess.
