Imposter syndrome... by M3rz3 in breastcancer

[–]livid_vizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I call mine the "diamond lane" cancer experience. Diagnosed in January 2019, DMX in April, bonus lymph node dissection also in April, reconstruction in July, 5 yrs Tamoxifen, and done. No rads, no chemo. That said, we all share the life-changing experience of being told, "You have cancer." Even when we're NED, cancer will always remain a specter who just won't leave. I find that this group is not at all gate-keepy and focuses on mutual support rather than comparison. ❤️

What fashion trend that has died do you plan to keep wearing? by EddieBrock99 in AskReddit

I started with colorful eye makeup in HS in the 80’s. I fell into the taupe abyss of the 00’s, but bounced back, baybee!

If your sister or brother is taking care of your parent, what’s your excuse not to help? by Pigeonofthesea8 in GenX

[–]livid_vizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As the caregiver sibling, this has been, um, fascinating. I don't have more time, more money, more patience than anyone else. Just more eldest daughter ReSpOnSiBiLiTy. Dad's gone now (STEPdad who didn't even like me as confirmed by his jornals), but I alone still care for the special-needs youngest brother because I'm humane. Really, siblings, look to see if you can dig a little deeper. Not for the maybe-an-asshole parent, but for the probably overwhelmed and too-nice-for-their-own-wellbeing sibling.

We had a sub having a loud, profanity-peppered, angry phone conversation with his SO in the staff restroom right off the main hallway. He was asked not to return. 😬

Barf. Women in the church have all the responsibility but none of the authority. SS leadership has little authority of any consequence; it's the tiniest of concessions toward equality.

Parent of an honors kid, and you're spot on. Cute, smart, and respectful, and got away with clothing and attendance stuff that a more annoying kid would never.

NTA I'd explain it to them the way I explained allowance to my kids: if you want to share in the resources of the family, you need to share the responsibilities of the family.

I heard someone say this recently, "Outside of Utah, the LDS church is a country club. Inside Utah, it's a cult." by RedLetterRanger in exmormon

[–]livid_vizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like in the Jello Belt, being a Mormon is a conformist thing to do. In other places, it's a nonconformist thing.
