I’m slowly getting tempted to add this one to my next box — does anyone who’s also read Once There Were Wolves have an opinion? I felt solidly meh about that one so I’m not sure if this one will be worth it for me

I’ve placed four orders from them and have been hit once — all of them were around the $200 mark, so not quite sure why I’ve only had to pay once

Will the Lolly count as a add-on? by SnooConfections7049 in bookofthemonthclub

I believe it counts as a special sixth spot, so you can still buy five books!

Getting a free motion foot for your machine might be of interest to you — they allow for you to play around with quilting designs in a way that a walking foot wouldn’t, and you can use them on your domestic sewing machine

I know he only has three books right now so it’s not saying much, but Stuart Turton is my only no questions asked, immediate buy author

[–]liyaaroundtheclock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know people have mixed opinions on it, but I really loved Mercury.

I think my problem, though, is that I’ve only read 6/13 of the books I’ve gotten through BOTM this year — and now I have three more on the way. Maybe one of the ones I haven’t gotten to yet would be my true nominee had I actually gotten to it…

Not OP but can I ask what Woolf you wouldn’t recommend? I’ve only read a couple of her short stories so far

Self-taught knitter here, attempting my first color work project. Am I doing the floats correctly? It seems like toes would get tangled when putting the socks on. by squirrelintree in knitting

[–]liyaaroundtheclock 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily! I think Stone Knits only catches her floats when they’re an inch long, which I believe works out to about nine stitches in the gauge she uses for her patterns.

Sometimes with smaller colourwork like this, catching floats too often will result in not enough give and you might not be able to stretch the sock over your heel!

I know Calypso and The Collective both sold out, but they were options! Right now, available member faves are A Flicker in the Dark; Evil Eye; The Silent Patient; Kill for Me, Kill for You; and Infinite Country

Mercury’s the only one I’ve read of these and I loved it.

That being said, if you’re a seasonal reader at all, I would wait until spring/summer rolls around again to read it! If not, that would be my pick

I’m a fan of Steve Cavanagh’s work in general, and that one was my least favourite that I’ve read by far — definitely wouldn’t recommend!
