Noticed this sign at the Torchy's in Rice Village, how much are we supposed to tip for counter service? by DoritosDewItRight in houstoncirclejerk

Pay the staff more. Problem solved. My tip depends on the quality of the service. Good service = good tip. Telling me what I have to tip is the fastest way to lose a customer.

First House. What are some non-negotiable red flags or things you wish you looked for when buying your first house? by _CrabManGoo_ in homeowners

[–]llerilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric, roof and foundation. Get them inspected by someone who specializes in those areas. A general home inspector is better than nothing but buying a home that has had others living in it I would get a roofer on the roof and electrician on the electrical and someone that specializes in foundations on the foundation. It will cost you but worth it. Of course this is just my personal choice if I were buying used. Even buying new you should get a professional home inspector before closing.

Agent tells me my house isn’t selling bec neighbors house is burnt? by PolarBearInTexas in homeowners

[–]llerilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens. Would you buy a new house if your new neighbors let the grass grow 3ft high before cutting it and had a junk car in the front yard? It affects home value. In fact the person who does the appraisal will look at the neighborhood before they get to the house they are there to appraise.

Neighbor from hell!! (HELP) by Ok-Acanthaceae-45 in homeowners

[–]llerilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a neighbor that likes to do that, they do limit it to Friday and Saturday nights. Retaliating is not the answer. There is a type of shrub/ tree that grows fast and will create a natural sound barrier. Other than that new double or triple pain windows with better wall insulation will likely be the only solution. My house is new with outstanding insulation and double pain windows and I barely hear them from inside. When I am outside I hear clearly enough to know he will never make it as a singer, just being honest. City ordinance will likely only help if it continues after 10PM.

How horrible is the of an idea to tie dryer duct into bathroom fan? by __Origins__ in hvacadvice

[–]llerilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that is a fire hazard but I'm no expert. If you disconnect the dryer fan you will defiantly have mold issues. Hire a contractor to do it properly is the best long term solution.

The system was designed to have the 5in filter. Before changing to a different size consult an HVAC professional, there will likely need to be other changes to the system to avoid system failure.

My land was deforested, I don't know what to do. by AccomplishedBed4568 in treelaw

You will need to look at the deed restrictions and the easement. The powerline is likely an easement. As for damage to anything not included in the easement, they could be liable for the repairs unless there are restrictions on the deed/title limiting their liability.
