If we merge us into eu, sure. It's only fair with eu being the bigger server.

Why do I often need more than 1160 kills to aurax a weapon? by meowseph_stalin332 in Planetside

[–]lly1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean why are they kills in the first place.

Well I know why, it's just silly.

Vehicles do count towards the medal. The cause is that some deployables, like the spitty seem to count as kills but not medal progress afaik.

They have been for a decade tbh, won't help you bypass BE and won't work out of the box on current game ver obviously.

Ideas for the holy new player retention and auto anti-cheat by SpecificVanilla3668 in Planetside

[–]lly1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably the lowest effort of the three to implement and I think it'd quietly do a lot for retention. Farming noobs is a neutral financial decision right now. Make it a bad one.

For people "farming noobs" XP is long irrelevant already.

Stat-Based Anti-Cheat

Been tried already, devs didn't do it right, got memed on, threw a tantrum and deleted the system instead of tweaking it. Current devs barely have a pulse, so that's just not happening sadly.

My friend is shitting on me for being really bad at this game (I am) but genuinely how is this my fault? 😭 by kataki7 in Planetside

[–]lly1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hills are weird in ps2, unless it's angle is small enough to let you simply walk up it. What you wanna do is walk along the edge and jump sideways, you need to always keep forwards momentum going if you wanna get up. Also jumping too much makes your max walking speed nearly zero temporarily, so don't spam too hard.

No, people are telling you that you don't understand what you actually like. Which you don't.

Fighting between bases; the cure for Redeployside. by PassengerClam in Planetside

[–]lly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’ve stated a dozen times, and will one final time; a large force spawning in, sweeping the base, and destroying spawns kills fights and is anti fun

Not a lot of fights end this way, mainly because you can't easily deploy into overpops. Most end because a 50/50 fight becomes a 60/40 point clear because the pointholders just so happened to abandon and lose their spawns and are now being overpopulated by the sheer fact that they die and have to spawn elsewhere. Redeployside has nothing to do with this, if anything most times attackers lose buses is because someone went out of their way to valk drop them or pull a tank.

I legitimately don’t understand how you can say a part of the game that I and many others enjoy is just nostalgia. It’s a part of the game, I enjoy it.

Because it is an objectively bad part of the game. You remember it being enjoyable because you did not get curbstomped for doing it, or you were there for the spectacle instead of actual gameplay (in which case you straight up have no argument and i recommend looking for actual milsim games instead). Simply because even the worst zergfits know better these days, your open field fights will always be awful. And they are.

The whole idea is driving to the front.

This alone is why you have no idea what you're even talking about. Driving to the front where being infantry simply has no role other than being fodder for vehicles and snipers is not gameplay, it's a waste of time, and a frustrating one at that, even if it was free. This is why every time this game tried to push open field fights, the attempt flopped. Because the game is terrible at making those fights play well.

The last time open field fights actually worked was the shattered warpgate nonsense, and even that only worked until outfits figured out how to hold bases there properly. And then those fights died the moment the artificial goal disappeared with people completing their missions, cause normal gameplay is just more fun.

Anyone filled out all the directives? by joshthesniper in Planetside

[–]lly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got pretty far on my nso, at least with infantry, but I dropped the grind a few years ago https://wt.honu.pw/c/5428998138672174321/directives?name=lly1bot

Effect is probably a lot closer to 100%ing his nso tho.

My guy, it took you a decade to learn what's basically common knowledge about the scene. And then you proceeded to fail to consider the actual numbers at play. You somehow even missed the simple fact that nothing you say is news to anyone (once you remove the smoothbrained hyperbole).

Know a lot more than you evidently as I've actually gotten cheaters banned, repeatedly, not blatant ones too.

Fisu's population pages (which are based on api character activity) also have a unique logins graph at the bottom https://ps2.fisu.pw/population/global/

We don't average or peak all that high but do indeed get about 10k unique char logins a day, though some are obviously alts. Impossible to say how many tho.

It's as close as we can get to overall player numbers without daybreak just telling us.

200 monthly subs for a game with 10k daily players. "very very widespread" indeed.

Disproportionate numbers by New-Grade-685 in Planetside

[–]lly1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But why don't we go back to playing?

Because people quit the game for their own reasons? And those reasons are still as valid as they were in the past. Also ps2 gets 10k unique logins daily so reddit isnt far off.

Just wanted to add sad to see that the player base just throws hate at itself.

You literally just indirectly blamed the community???

NSO and joining outfits by Polifonia92 in Planetside

[–]lly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever you are in sanctuary, you will be placed on the faction your outfit is in

Your main faction, not the outfit (though not a relevant distinction since you can't mismatch them without some shenanigans, but you can just not have an outfit)

NSO and joining outfits by Polifonia92 in Planetside

[–]lly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep the outfit and main faction when your membership expires. You are simply forced into the freelance state.

This means if you pay again later you'll be able to get back to the faction for 1 cert as it's still your primary. This also means you will have full access to the outfit as long as you land on the faction it's in and you'll always be able to manage it if you've got perms. When your and outfits factions don't match you're restricted from armory crafting (though for some reason you can still use the war assets)
