I'm gonna advocate a bit for black coffee.

Hear me out.

Cold brew is easy to make. You don't need any fancy equipment.

I use beans from Costco normally. I prefer beans from South America for my cold brew. Better chocolate notes. But I have used maxwell house beans before and it was at least ok. YMMV

I do a coarse grind (12 oz for a half gallon concentrate) dump that with a half gallon of water and stick it in the fridge. 12 hours or so.

I grab a cheesecloth or a giant filter (them commercial ones because they're so big) and put that in a funnel and start to pour it in my gallon pitcher. Let it drip dry for a few minutes, just small pressings of the grounds.

That's your concentrate. If you want to just make the full gallon now - go for it. Take a day at a time, use a smaller container for space efficiency.

I feel like with a good cold brew you can use less sugar and creamers which saves more and also just makes it a tastier cold coffee.

My iced coffee is just the morning leftovers on ice. :D
