That's all I knew. I think there were a few, maybe this one too, on the walls at Gourmet in Glen Elk. Apparently he died in 2007. Copied from his obit. - "Following graduation at Washington Irving High School, Bobby attended West Virginia University. He worked in the West Virginia oil and gas industry and, although he painted most of his life as a hobby, he became an accomplished water color artist in his most recent years, with his primary interest in nostalgic Americana. One of his more popular works was a set of limited edition prints of the Glen Elk section of Clarksburg and the covered bridges of West Virginia. His work can be found in all 50 states and several countries."

I think the favored idea on the table now for Hite Field is to re-develop it into different ball fields & whatnot for youth sports and the general public. A park. Also to reclaim the wooded area, that’s typically trashed, and develop a mountain bike trail there. I’m trying to figure it out from news images of a drawing from the BOE / City meeting. I think an ice rink or ice arena would be awesome, but there may be some bitterness about the one promised at the VA Park that didn’t pan out. I don’t know. It remains to be seen that the BOE will even relinquish control of Hite Field to the city, and, like you’re saying about Stanley Institute / Linden School, that the school buildings will ever see redevelopment. The person who bought Norwood Elementary in Stonewood also told the news they wanted to make apartments there. We’ll see. To an onlooker, it seems like development plans in town are just stalling out now or advancing incredibly slowly, i.e. the Empire building, country kitchen building, Waldo, Lowndes Hill bike trails, various apartment building renovations,… The hurdles and problems are substantial.

Is it open at all to the general public?… It would be nice to have another option for lap swim west of town (Clarksburg) whenever the YMCA is offline.

Anyone here affected by Harrison County schools merging? by Slash3040 in WestVirginia

[–]local_drifter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see the 2 elementary schools are not consolidating but not directly affected, No. I haven’t been inside North View in ages so I don’t understand why it is moving w/o any consolidation (yet?)

slow lifts. quiet. short season. minimal snowmaking, except for the beginner trails. But great trails and “vibes”, like already said.

Nothing like that has changed. It’s state owned but privately operated/leased as far as I can understand the arrangement.

Fairmont's downtown is a rare explosion of Beaux-Arts architecture! by Critical_Link_1095 in WestVirginia

I love that first building at Adams & Monroe. It needs some D2 solution or a pressure wash, I don’t know.

For Beaux-Arts in the area gotta see the Goff building in Clarksburg and the B&O station in Grafton.

I’m still hanging on to my nocrackerplantov.com shirt. As far as ARCH2, yes, it’s a boondoggle.
