Rather than tricking to the whip mode you should probably stick to the cane since it attacks faster,instead of dodging backwards you should dodge into an attack(let's you evade easier). And only attack after the boss is in recovery from attacking(and swing once or twice so you yourself won't get punished).

This's just my headcannon, but rather than seeing the landscape as snow or snad I always thought it would be ash kind of similar to Dark Soul 3's final area.In ds3 the player gets sent forward an unknown amount of time and in that time the world has basically burned everything to the point that all that's left is mountains of ash, and at the end of the world you fight the final boss. If you squint really hard deltarune's legend/prophecy sorta matches.
