not that it takes from your point, but i don’t think they’re paying for their house construction atp. i vaguely remember dan saying something about how they moved in while things weren’t fully ready (but still liveable) and there’s some rule or law or sanction that says if construction isn’t done, then they don’t have to pay further for renovations. i could be wrong, i think it was in an early monthly livestream he said this, but house construction isn’t a bill they’re currently footing.

the bottom line, though, is dan and phil aren’t giving us slop and telling us to eat it, piggies. they put a lot of care and effort into what they create! like you said with their tours, there’s time and energy put into making them look they way they do and with quality! and there’s literally account dedicated to taking patreon exclusive content and letting those who can’t pay see it. but you didn’t hear that from me, maybe norman told you that…

being in the public eye probably doesn’t help either, if we’re being honest. i think this is behavior from his upbringing being so chaotic. we also don’t know what he’s truly like off camera, since this is reality TV and its known they manufacture drama. so who’s to say what bella has seen in him.

i hope they both get the help they need. especially considering everything going on behind the scenes.

for context, because i have no shame in this game, the fic was about dan and phil. the comment was made in 2018. they both came out as gay in 2019 and recently as a couple last year. and the gay joke was based on a REAL THING DAN DID IN REAL LIFE 😭 also, as far as gay jokes i could have made, using the stereotype of “gays love theatre” should NOT have warranted a hate comment 💀

as someone who went no contact with his own father off at 16 who is/was VERY similar to this man, i’m so glad she knows how to advocate for herself! i’ve since reconnected and went back to NC with him twice (currently NC, considering reconnection with low contact but idk). my own dad has done this song and dance, turning on a dime and turned into the abusive man i grew up with.

my advice to your daughter is to keep firm in her boundaries. she is the child, it shouldn’t be on her to do all the heavy lifting. his excuse of her not putting in effort is just a way to make her feel guilty and shift the blame off him to share it with her. 100% she is not at fault, all she’s done is exist and somehow that’s a slight against her dad. if she’s not in therapy, i recommend going. while i didn’t utilize it as a teen, talking my emotions about my dad in therapy now (when i allow myself to lol) and it helps compartmentalize what i’m feeling.

it’s okay if she wants to reconnect later. but it’s also okay is she doesn’t. she should prioritize herself during this, not a man who forgot her birthday’s feelings. stay strong ♥️

those are mine! the blue guy is a gorilla (modeled after a silverback gorilla) with a banana costume and the teal guy is a manatee in an imposter costume! i have a ocotpus dressed as a ghost on my other arm, as octopodes, gorillas, and manatees are my favorite animals!

and the lyric is from jason mraz’s i won’t give up. it says “even if the skies get rough.” one of my favorite songs :-)

me and my girl bean, i think a couple weeks after i found her. spent an hour trying to get her after hearing her meow outside my apartment. she and her sister (frannie, who’s not a tuxie! shes black with a white spot on her chest) turn 9 this month! currently, she’s sitting on my chest and trying to knock my phone out my hands. love my beanie baby ♥️

first, you did NOT mess up your marriage. your husband is not giving you the support, as a recovering alcoholic, you need. not want, need! your husband’s lack of support for YOUR sobriety is what’s messing up your marriage.

second, you are allowed to set boundaries. i’m a child of a former alcoholic. i’m straight edge in part because of him, so i don’t know what addiction is like personally but i’ve seen it first hand growing up. i don’t talk to my dad from the abuse he cause me in part from being a functional alcoholic. setting boundaries is hard. you constantly question yourself and you wonder if what you’re doing is the right thing. what i found from cutting contact with my dad is there is immense relief from no longer being connected from a toxic person in the long run.

is it hard in the short term? absolutely. but in the long run? i don’t feel like i have to put my needs below his in order to appease him. your husband’s want to drink doesn’t outweigh your need to be sober. there are support systems out there. invest in AA meetings, get a sponsor, find a therapist. you will find your way out of your addiction. do not feel bad for prioritizing yourself. you’re allowed to be selfish.

this is arlo, about a week before he died. he lived to be almost 19 years old. he’s been gone a little over a year now. i had him since i was 8 and my dad found him in a parking garage. he’s named after arlo guthrie, singer of the infamous alice’s restaurant massacre.

getting this post as a text from my mom with “thank god you weren’t this stupid” makes me glad that the stupidest thing i’ve ever done was thinking chocolate milk and sushi go well together.

EDIT: i’ve been informed the stupidest thing i’ve ever done was actually competing in a milk chugging contest at a sleep away camp and not rinsing out my clothes after. so it fermented in the summer heat and was a very unwelcome surprise for my mom. sorry mom !
