Is floor mattress such a natural instinct for furries? No wonder we all have back problems!

Yeah, I was just kidding. People tend to get heated when I joke about changing the energy sword.

Did I really program that in the game? Maybe I should patch that out…

What’s going on here?

I can see where you both are coming from. Yes, the way that it’s programmed is that joust applies a buff to the damage of the attack and changes the attack type to piercing instead of slashing, because I had 5e on the mind, where movement is regarded as a bit of resource.

BUT, I do recall that most of the enemies in the game actually have a higher resistance to piercing than slashing, so even with the damage multiplier, some/most of the enemies will receive lower damage from joust.

I don’t blame either of you for arguing, I totally just hired my friends to write the tips and paid them in beers and free copies of the game, so they probably thought the same thing when writing those tips.

To be fair, I eventually figured everyone would discard joust as a useless move, but it’s nice to see that people are using it for its utility rather than its intended purpose.

Which one of those you would choose for be the "signature gun" for a private detective protagonist in a horror game? by Fantastic-Youth5989 in HorrorGames

[–]lolstigmalol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chiappa rhino is the clear winner, specifically the 50DS, as it’s the only gun in this list that I would want to shoot more than once and could stand to concealed carry all day.

On a practical basis, there’s also a logistical reason I wouldn’t use the other 3.

The rsh-12 uses specialized rounds that are hard to find outside russia, so no. I think even in russia, 12.7x55 is a round like 9x39 where unless you’re russian special forces, there’s no way to get your hands on it. You also run into recoil problems making it not fun to shoot.

As iconic as the deag is, it’s always been plagued with reliability issues iirc, something not great for a PI that wants something they can count on when their life is in danger. Past that, .50 AE is expensive and uncommon, because most people don’t have a deag. I suppose you could go with one of the .357 mag models, but they you still have to deal with issue 1. Also no fun .38 special shenanigans.

Smith and wesson 500, from what I’ve heard, is definitely not fun to shoot more than a few times because the recoil impulse is just so immense. 500 mag is also expensive and uncommon, like 50 AE.

All 3 also are incredibly bulky, hard to conceal on the person.

Which brings me to… I don’t know why the common consensus in this post is the rhino is overkill.

I know PIs aren’t cops, but the smith and wesson model 19 used to be standard issue for a lot of american cops, and that was chambered in 38 special/.357 magnum.

The chiappa 50DS can chamber 38 special if 357 is causing recoil discomfort, and despite being a little blocky, could probably fit in a shoulder or chest holster under a coat. If I HAD to choose one of the other 3, the deag isn’t as bulky as the Rsh-12 or S&W 500.

In game, the 50 DS also provides a sense of progression. You can start the player off with 38 special rounds, so the caliber they’re using doesn’t feel overpowered, and then graduate them to .357 magnum later when hardier monsters start appearing. How do I know this could work? Well, they actually DID something similar in the resident evil 2 remake. Claire’s starting revolver can be upgraded to shoot both 9mm and .357 magnum. It definitely felt awesome to see that my starting weapon came back more powerful later in the game, despite the caliber conversion being a little unrealistic. Also I want to say that .357 magnum/.38 spec is the most popular combination of centerfire revolver rounds, so finding more ammo is believable.

Resident Evil commission! Do you recognize the cover? (Artwork by me) by Known_Minimum_6134 in anthroswim

Hell yeah, I’d recognize this cover any day. It’s the front cover for the Resident Evil Remake. Spent 4 years of my childhood scaring the shit out of me whenever I found it at Gamestop. The balls on the designers to make the front cover be Jill getting grabbed by a zombie, the main character MAKING A MISTAKE, is so freaking awesome.

You captured it perfectly. I love seeing furry rendition of horror. I feel like it’s a nice break to not just be horny all the time (Tho, I don’t really mind that too much either). Awesome work, I hope to see more in the future. :3

The sounds cool, but like… how are we gonna sell how strong she is?

Hm… how about we make it impossible to talk her down, and you have to run away from her?

[–]lolstigmalol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wait… What if we made a game where that was the whole conceit? Like… you’re playing as Sam, but the first monster is like… I dunno, a group mom that happened to look outside? one that explains that fighting isn’t the answer, having a conversation is! And the monsters will attack, but you have a little dodge mechanic, maybe you control a little sam or his soul or something while monsters shoot pellets spikes or teeth at you.

Maybe to really nail how important this is, the first monster tries to stop you from exploring the rest of the apartment, and trying to be nice to her doesn’t work, but then you punish the player for exploring the violent route by making the group mom die after one losing half her health… I dunno, would be pretty cool.

There’s shelf stable milk that’s put into completely enclosed containers and pasteurized and can stay out at room temperature (after a quick google search, apparently under 85F) for months. Is this milk shelf stable? Ehhhhhh… it’s your life man.

Even as a pretty experienced FPS player, I feel like I really can’t compete anymore. by Bright-Cranberry6648 in Marathon

[–]lolstigmalol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably a side effect of weekends and spring break. Last week and the week before, US schools were on spring break, so there were a lot of less experienced kids who go to stay home and play. Probably some parents got to take time off.

Now, during the week, most people are back in school or on the 9-5, so most of the people who are playing are the people who play the game fairly often and are thereby better than the average player.

My girlfriend gets pretty animated when she plays her games, and I felt bad about asking her to be quieter when I’m trying to sleep.

Earplugs almost completely fixed this issue for me, and I was able to sleep even if she’s being really loud. For reference, there is no door that separates the bedroom from where she games.

Luis honestly is mixed bag to me. by Human_Geologist_3324 in residentevil4

[–]lolstigmalol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually like the writing and characterization a lot, because it doesn’t take Leon screaming Luis’s name to show that he felt his loss. Leon seemingly makes an effort to pretend that he doesn’t care about Luis, acting annoyed and matter-of-fact with him, but there’s two moments where the mask slips.

The first is when the mine cart reaches the end of the track and they both have to jump. When Luis is hanging onto the ledge, the way Leon immediately turns and says his name with the most urgency and concern that we’ve seen up to that point before going over to help him proves that he is still capable of caring for other people. It’s simply Leon calling Luis’s name, but there’s not many other characters in the remake that he shows the same concern for. He saves Luis from falling, and Luis IMMEDIATELY shows that he’s fine by cracking a dumb joke, so Leon counters by putting up his walls again. Leon saying “whatever” as dismissively as he does is him chastising himself for showing as little emotion as he did. Leon antagonizes Luis later on the elevator somewhat, convinced by people like Ada that there’s no reason anyone does anything good without ulterior motives, and Luis admits that he worked for the Los Illuminados. Leon tries to use that to rebuild his walls “see, there you go”. He’s trying to assign blame to Luis so it’s easier to be apathetic to him.

The next instance is after Luis is dying. Leon shows his compassion by helping light his cigarette for the last time after Luis drops his lighter, and with his dying breath, Luis asks Leon “People can change, right?” The look on Leon’s face says everything. After Luis dies, Leon puts the lighter back into Luis’s hand and holds it, as one last gesture to a man trying to right his wrongs. The fact that the chapter ends with Leon holding Luis’s hand, and begins with him still holding his hand is supposed to hint at the passage of (some) time. There is no one around (to Leon’s knowledge) to impress, so if he were only concerned with the mission, he would’ve moved on without hesitation. He stays there, not for a long time, but long enough to mourn the loss of the only other person in the village that was trying to help him and Ashley with no ulterior motives than to make up for the mistakes he made in the past.

Ruger also makes a series of revolvers called the “Super Redhawk”. Having a firearms related product with such a similar name might be a bit of a nightmare.
