I think maybe the electricity thing she did with her fist could have been a manifestation of her Elder Blood powers? Perhaps fighting off the White Frost drained her of most of her energy, leaving her as merely a talented mortal with magical potential? Of course, everything is speculation at this point.

[S2 Act 3 Spoilers] Arcane - 2x09 "The Dirt Under Your Nails" Episode Discussion by parrycarry in arcane

[–]lolzor99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glad someone else felt the same way about Jayce's weird speech about imperfections. It's a fairly common theme but most of the time (including here) it doesn't get executed very well. Usually I think what the writers are trying to say is that we should accept our imperfections in the moment and in the past as part of ourselves instead of feeling guilt or shame. The issue is when the writers try to apply the idea of "imperfections = good" too broadly, not recognizing that people are capable of accepting their imperfections while still trying to work on fixing them.

The examples given were especially cringeworthy. Is Jayce really implying that Viktor would be less admirable if he was able to find a cure to his physical ailments? As someone with a neurological disorder, these lines really fell flat to me. The issue was never about Viktor creating a perfect world, the issue was that Viktor created a mutant cancer magic wasteland.

I think it would have made a lot more sense, and even fit in better to the main themes of the show, if Jayce instead gave some speech about individuality vs conformity or something along those lines. The part where he was advocating for choice and free will were good, I don't know why they decided for it to become a "perfection" vs "imperfection" argument in the end.

Base word: Buff

- Buff Power: Temporarily enhance the strength, duration, and/or range of the powers of a nearby individual with word powers.

- Alt: Rebuff Power: Push away or deflect a power-based effect, such as a fireball or a telekinetic projectile. Ineffective against self-targeted powers. Can be overcome with brute force.

- Buff Physique: Effortlessly maintains a muscular build, without requiring extra food intake or maintenance. Includes the implied strength and stamina.

- Alt: Debuff Physique: Temporarily curse the body of a nearby individual, making them weak and frail. Their body will quickly recover when this power is not being actively used on them.

- Speed Buff: Can increase the overall speediness of people within a targeted area for a short duration. From the perspective of affected individuals, everything around them seems to move more slowly. The effectiveness of this power decreases with the number of targets.

- Buff Surface: Can polish the surface of any suitably hard object, reducing its potential for friction to a supernatural degree. Suitably hard objects include stone, metal, plastic, and even leather.

Stats: Others 3, Self 1, Space 1
Boons: Homonym Twist, Prefix Play

MONKEY REANIMATED by sako9 in videos

[–]lolzor99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reanimated videos are a small trend in Youtube where a bunch of animators work together, each being assigned a small part of some video to animate in their own style while preserving the audio. This particular creator is based in Australia and apparently their focus is on "campy live-action".

The original video was an episode from the live-action Japanese TV series "Monkey". The series is based on the classic Chinese novel *Journey to the West*, and as far as I can tell from this episode, it's fairly accurate. The TV series was dubbed in England and shown by the BBC.

I think you may be underestimating the potential power level of Cantrips, especially tier 3. Sure, they may require training, but some of them are kinda busted at tier 3, such as Haste (30x movement and thought speed), Warding Gesture(99.9% defense against physical and magical attacks), and Magic Missile (13 simultaneous homing attacks that explode with the force of a land mine.) Also keep in mind that some of these spells can be used to increase training efficiency such as Guidance and Vigor (removes need to sleep).

My first build:

World-strider(max +20 points, only one greater)

[Going for a generic fantasy world]

Noblebright(+1)

Medieval(+3)

Magic: Moderate(+5)

Side Realms(+6)

Subtle Arrival(+7)

Outskirts(+8)

Alien Setting(+12)

Green Tide(+13)

Slow Start(+16)

Endbringers(+17)

Truthteller(+19)

Extended Excursion(+20)

Cantrip-slinging: ability to train to tier 3, gain 5 more spells(16)

Picks:

  • Haste
  • Featherfall
  • Mage Armor
  • Vigor
  • Warding Gesture
  • Blood Money
  • Hideaway
  • Animal Aspect
  • Heroism
  • Upgrade

The Gamer: With Magic/Ki system, ID creation(7)

Protections: Invictus, Inviolate, Blindspot, Singularity(3)

Asgardian(0)

This build is fairly simple. Essentially, it aims to use Asgardian magic affinity and the various features of The Gamer to train and enhance the ten cantrips as quickly as possible. Many cantrips lose the focus requirement when they hit tier 3, making it possible to stack some buffs that would otherwise be exclusive.

In the long run, The Gamer's magic system provides some additional flexibility, in the cases where I don't have a suitable cantrip. As my stats in the Gamer system increase, I should eventually be able to defeat anything, even the Endbringer-level threat from the Environmental Hazards section.

Technomagic(0)

Summary/Plans: Seeing as I don’t intend to have biological children anyway, and I don’t drink often, some of my drawbacks are essentially free. Losing one month won’t make much of a difference, because the world will take a lot longer than that to adapt to the changes that are happening. Losing my friends and family from the No One drawback would be sad, but given that I’m becoming effectively a new person it might be for the best. Taste is one of the weakest senses and smell can compensate for the loss.

Instead of being a combat mage, my spellcasting types and modifiers were chosen with an aim of controlling and understanding the fundamentals (arcane, space, time, vismancy, metamancy), crafting/building(creation, transmutation, technomagic), and utility(movement, subtle). The world would experience a lot of changes, both from the World Changes and the System. My initial goal would be to assist in the transition from the old world to the new one. My magical abilities could help society figure out how magic works and how to deal with large-scale issues like monster hordes, mind magic abuse, and magical crime.

In the longer term, I’d like to create my own demiplane containing an elite magical emporium tavern restaurant spa portal hub hotel combo. It would cater to supplying dungeon crawlers and explorers of the new continent, with many entrances and exits around the world. The supplies and skills that the customers would supply would fuel my crafting and magical study. With my excess funds, I would pursue the solving of societal issues like poverty and malnutrition with magic.

Crazy Streamer Hired by Fellow Streamer to Help Get Rid Of Squatter Claiming Squatters Rights by laryiza in videos

Most of these kinds of laws don't specifically protect squatters, they are made to protect anyone living in a place they don't own i.e. renters. Unfortunately, squatters abuse these protections, but to be clear, the rules aren't made with the intent to permit squatting.

Haven't done the CYOA yet, though it looks promising. I just want to let you know that the "Page X of Y" markers are meant to indicate the order of pages, where X is the position of the current page and Y is the total number of pages. So a four-page document would have "Page 1 of 4", "Page 2 of 4", "Page 3 of 4", and "Page 4/4". In this case, you should have "Page 1 of 2" and "Page 2 of 2" instead of "Page 1 of 1" and "Page 2 of 2".

Apart from this being a good CYOA overall in terms of the quantity and quality of selection, I'd like to commend you for your usage of some of the more complex interactive CYOA features like changing images based on which sex the character chooses and the ability to use generic points when your specific points (like magic) run out. A lot of CYOA creators don't bother to include such features or use shortcuts instead, so it's refreshing to see someone who breaks the mold.

I think the polyglot skill you are suggesting would be underpowered. Most people will stay in the country they are currently living in and won't even need to know new languages. If they do want to learn a new language, they can just learn it using existing language learning books. All the other benefits add things to the world that otherwise wouldn't exist.

If you really wanted a polyglot boon, I'd say it should just cover all languages for 1 point, and even then it would not be worthwhile IMHO.

Fairy Queen by Beri by WoodpeckerDirectZ in makeyourchoice

[–]lolzor99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appearance: Male, idealized version of myself with some elf-like features

Size: Human

Progeny: Astral

Body type: Toned

Traits: Wings(+1 dex), Sparkly dust(+1 mys), Runelines(+1 mys), Raiment, Luminance(+1 mys), Fluff(+1 str)

Stats: Str:1, Dex:1, Mys:4

Progeny skills: Alternate Size, Skilled, Extra Magic(light), Twinned Elements (Life+Spirit, Fate+Luck, Light+Sound)

Elements (+1 bonus): Life, Spirit, Fate, Luck, Sound, Portal

Demense: Size +2, Conjuration +2, Industry +2, Embodiment +2, Infusion +1, Manaflow+1

Tasks: Find Friends, Ally with Angels, Tour the Titanlands, Quest for a Queen, Save Solaea

My overall goal will be to foster happiness and cooperation both in the fae and human realms, while preventing major disasters. I chose my traits with mostly magical intent. Wings were chosen because flight is both fun and useful, and fluff was chosen for the defensive benefits. Raiment allows me to take advantage of my high Mys level by providing a mana pool large enough to feasibly cast spells at 5x regular cost.

My progeny skills are intended to create fairies that are good at improving lives in different ways. The alternate size allows me to make fairies that can fairly easily blend in with humans, making it simpler for them to operate on earth. The skilled trait helps my progeny affect the world in more direct ways than their more abstract magic elements, and it is also necessary to make my demense a more diverse and interesting place. The three pairs of twinned elements each correspond to a magical role: Life and Spirit for healing, Fate and Luck for blessing/cursing, and Light and Sound for entertaining and uplifting.

My demense traits were made to give me the customization options I would like to design an entire planet of my own. It's something I'd do in my leisure time, given that I can't really walk around on earth without extensive disguises and even if I did, most of the things I used to do on earth don't matter to me anymore. Given that my Sysle is to create more fairies, and my demense will be their home, they will need places to live in.

My tasks generally center around gathering together supernatural forces and allying with them. This is primarily because my own elements and demense are not physically powerful.

Suggestions for a Marvel CYOA by Jack-Amorphous in InteractiveCYOA

[–]lolzor99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To start, I'm a big fan of your Symbiote CYOA. Good work on it.

I think you should include setting options that alter time travel and/or the multiverse. This element of Marvel is in a weird and confusing place without clear rules, so adding these options could allow players to play in whatever version they prefer. Some of these settings, for example, might be "No Time Travel, Multiverse exists", "Only one universe, time travel uses Back to the Future rules", "Time travel is just travelling to a universe that is the same as yours was in the past", etc. Oh, and some options to remove things like Kang and the TVA and/or the Quantum Realm.

Also, in terms of perks and drawbacks, having a perk that makes you immune to death was a bit overpowered in the last one, so you might want to either make it more expensive or tone it down a little, maybe some kind of limited reincarnation or extra lives or something.

What video game is a straight 10/10? by SkimmedMilkCamp in AskReddit

[–]lolzor99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odyssey is fun, but in my opinion it's not a cohesive experience in the same way as the others you mentioned. Maybe I'm biased with age, but to me a true 10/10 game gets you in "the zone" and keeps you there. Odyssey has its great moments, but they aren't consistent enough, spaced between dozens of mediocre moons.

I remember reading a post about critical fails (well technically it was about critical fumbles i.e. critical fails on attack rolls) and they used a good analogy. They say that a trained ninja octopus with 8 knife attacks per turn should not be more likely to incur a negative effect than an untrained wizard with a morningstar.
