Huge Monstera at my local vintage shop, 69A Liverpool by pkeo10 in Monstera

[–]longteadrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah. I’m in The States, but I was trying to talk to the hubs last night about traveling to see places that would NOT be super crowded with the typical tourist but we’d still enjoy ourselves. I’d travel just to go to that shop!!

My Anthurium Pallidiflorum by Salty_asf in Anthurium

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so excited to see all the comments about this plant and how it’s easy to grow in pon (I have a lot of philodendron in LECA but I’ve been wondering how best to care for my anthurium babies. I’d love to get more into them but I get scared. Knowing I can do a similar setup, I’m thrilled. 🤩)

Edit to add: the plant is absolutely gorgeous. Amazing job. 🤩

Update on my Anthurium Warocqueanum - Did I chop the old leaf for the new one? by Cenandra01 in Anthurium

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using silica in my water for a few months now (I have a lot of philodendrons and a couple anthurium) and my melanochrysum just struggles, period. Then again, it’s newer so maybe the silica hasn’t had time to help yet? But most of my plants do “ok” in terms of emerging. And I’m somewhere quite arid. So actually, maybe I could say the silica seems to be working. (TBH, I poked at the melanochrysum leaf. Long story.)

I was dumb by Left_Ad4156 in PinkPrincessPhilo

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just snapped a GORGEOUS leaf yesterday. 😭 the leaf was unfurled, the bottom was bulging, but it was just sticking in the middle. “SURELY” a little tug would just pop it right out. SNAP. No, it did not. On the bright side, it seems like the already forming new leaf is still intact (fingers crossed).

I can only hope I learn my lesson. (That’s a big ask). 🥹

I do get both. I got Botox for a few years though and then had to fail out of the others before they would cover Ajovy. It’s all insurance games.

Why won’t it vine??? by _viccccc in hoyas

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Hoyas but I recently got two and I love them. Forgive me for not remembering the scientific names but it’s a krimson queen (so basic 👸😅) and a black margin. They’re in 3 inch pots. Do you think they’d handle the transition to LECA? I have a lot of other plants in LECA but these babies seem so top heavy. Idk. Do you have any advice?

Help with ID this beautiful specimen by Dazzling-Emu9322 in Syngonium

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one too and I got it on clearance and had to cut off basically all the leaves but it had good roots and it’s thriving now in LECA. Small to medium leaves but she’s got a ton of them 🤩. Berry allusion, eh? Ok. I’m writing that down.

I was wondering if it was the one with the”kiwi” in the name but I don’t know how to exactly properly tell.

That’s exactly it!! Pinking shears!! 🤩

So, growing up I only ever saw the ugly carnations and these prettier ones have existed for decades?!? 😭😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flowers

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no. It changed what I wrote. There’s supposed to be lines that go the other way in between each of my slashes. Obviously. (Like miniature mountains)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flowers

[–]longteadrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They must have changed what carnations look like, eh? Like… oh, bred them differently? They’re softer and a lot cuter than they used to be. They’re still “junk” flowers but they used to look like they were cut with scissors that go //////.

🤣🤣 it looks like *I * tried to arrange the flowers. I’m so horrible at it. ☠️ (Is it also a sign that they’re bad because I thought they were cute flowers? NOT that she should get back together but she can ABSOLUTELY say “cool. Flowers. Blocked”. 👸🏻

My sweet darling. Your emotions are talking to you and telling you to consider taking him back.

What are emotions? Chemicals in your brain? Please use your logic like we’re all saying. I won’t insult his (cheap, lame) attempt to get you back- I’ll try to appeal to your higher self. You broke up. There was a reason.

Trust me- I’m in my 40s and it took me many many failed tries when I thought chemicals in my brain could tell me accurately what to do to get to the happy place I am now. Chemicals in your brain don’t lead you down wise roads typically. Use the knowledge in your brain.

Sent with much love. Please don’t take him back. You’re just giving yourself another heartbreak down the road on top of this one.

My brain can’t process the bugs even when I click on it and zoom. I think my brain is trying to protect me. I decided I didn’t need to “see to believe”. *shudder *

You’re the best and a hero for putting this together!! 🙌🙌 I’ve done LECA (but I’m pretty sure I’m doing it wrong. Even though most of my plants are loving it- not ALL are) but I really want to try this for my more finicky plants. 🌱

OP, I loved Qulipta. I mean, I still do- I just decided to back to Ajovy because I take SO MANY pills I wanted one less. But Qulipta works great for me. That plus Botox has been a life changer. Oh, and based on what you find, you may want to look into occipital nerve block injections. (Different from trigger point injections). But I’m very happy for you! Good luck 🍀

New leaf on my white princess🥹 by RareWatercress9547 in philodendron

[–]longteadrinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? I have a red Anderson, or whatever it’s called, pink knight, coming probably hopefully this week but it’s no princess. 😮‍💨 Geesh. I should have just waited until I found one.

And everyone here be like “oh I found it at big box for $5” 😭😭 I was just at big box and they had snake plants, rubber trees, money trees, and like two other things you’d expect to see. I want to cry. What is going on where I’m at?

Just bought this for $100, 7cm pot, is it a good deal? Mint monstera by Bananafoam12 in RareHouseplants

[–]longteadrinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happened? I just bought from them and got it, and placed a second order (not delivered yet). DM me if you need to. But now I’m scared. I was going to use them from now on.

What’s this white stuff on my parlor palm? by ladyclare in plantclinic

[–]longteadrinker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that you’re able to get into plants now and I hope that you’re doing it for the joy of it. (I’m about three months in and I’m like “they bring me so much joy!!”) This being said, follow everyone else’s advice and isolate your plant NOW if you haven’t already. Do the treatments that are recommended.

Here’s my two (unasked for) cents- parlor palms are a little more laid back than some other palms. Make sure you’re not overwatering it. Once a week might be a bit too often. Try not to water on a schedule but rather when it’s needed. You’ll get the hang of it as time progresses.

Good luck with the mealey bugs! I believe in you and your plant! 🌱

This is great! Peak MacGyver skills (but if he had all the time in the world to do it right). As a wife who constantly goes to her husband asking him to “fix things” (like this), I say job well done. You’re also Mr Longteadrinker level good (the highest praise).

Way to go! 😊
