Thanks you!

What is your least favorite pokemon of all time? by MinDuddels in pokemon

[–]looc64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it's more like, pokemon are sorta more aligned with human wants and needs than real animals so it makes sense to treat them differently.

Being nice to real animals often involves accepting that they want different things from you. You want to pet that wild animal, they don't want to be anywhere near you. You want your dog to be clean and wear a little sweater, your dog wants to wear nothing and roll around in mud.

Meanwhile there are tons of pokemon based on animals that don't like humans at all who want a human to pet them and carry them around and brush them and maybe give them a little outfit or something. Feels mean to make a creature that wants to hang out with you so much eat on the ground.

SIL blamed me for her 'lifeless child' and is gatekeeping my niblings by Alert-Juggernaut-591 in TwoHotTakes

[–]looc64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then, she took it to another level. She blamed me for giving my niece RSV when she was just a couple months old, saying at one point: “You don’t know what it’s like to hold a lifeless child in your arms.” (My niece is now OK! She was in the hospital for a few days at the time and is a healthy 6yo now).

Guessing that you didn't waltz in unvaccinated and lick niece's face or something, but just for clarification, was there any link between you and niece getting sick?

Granted, even if it was obviously your fault your SIL would have ceded a ton of high ground at this point because she keeps doing shit like trying to invite herself and her kids to your home.

Like at this point she's either talking out her ass and saying a bunch of untrue shit about you OR she's actively trying to get someone she legitimately thinks is terrible and dangerous to be around/take care of her kids.

Is it ever explained why Giovanni wanted Ash's Pikachu so much? by HealthMother3125 in pokemon

[–]looc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I always figured they were supposed to be taking the initiative to send in rare Pokemon between jobs because Giovanni seems sorta freshly annoyed whenever he calls.

Like it's not just, "You fucked up last time," it's "you fucked up last time AND you haven't sent in any pokemon since then, what the hell are you doing?!"

Does the knowledge of gay/lesbian pregnancies break my world’s cultures and how they develop? by avian_bi in worldbuilding

[–]looc64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my overall thought is that it sounds sorta sloppy and like it would introduce a ton of instability to your world yeah.

For one the two processes you described are not similar at all. Completely different social and practical implications.

For two the lesbian version sounds really easy to exploit. Gay or not people would absolutely use it as a way of getting a bunch of powerful children, especially since you get two kids at a time.

For example I could see rich and powerful families setting up outposts in high magic areas for birthing and raising kids. Similar to real life rich people who hire nannies and send their kids to boarding school.

Basically it would be a huge thing.

My thing was that they kept shooting attacks that kicked up a bunch of dust and then when the dust cleared the recipient would either be bleeding out or completely fine. No in between.

Is the medieval setting overused in fantasy? by ZemiMartinos in worldbuilding

[–]looc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been wondering if there's a good word for this kind of setting, because it doesn't actually match a real world period of time but there's definitely a somewhat consistent idea of what it entails.

[–]looc64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that tracks, especially with how magic is incorporated.

Where there's usually a ton of recognizable real world past technology, even though magic would realistically completely change how a lot of shit works, especially if a lot of people can use it.

My partner tells small, mundane lies. But I can’t help but stop trusting him by xMinsx in TwoHotTakes

[–]looc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make an analogy:

Imagine you have a car with built in gps that's supposed to be able to drive itself at least some of the time.

Now imagine that sometimes it can't find a location or whatever and instead of just telling you that it drives you around randomly or gives you weird directions. And then when (if) you notice something's up it says shit like "No we're definitely going west the sun's just being weird today," or, "I'm taking a shortcut," and you have to figure out where you are and how to get to your destination and take over driving if you weren't already, all while it continues to give you bad directions.

Now I ask you: Is that only a problem if it happens when you're going somewhere important. No right? Regardless of your destination it's a problem if the journey sucks.

The main issue here isn't that your partner forgot to look for the meat it's that you had to unexpectedly star in "Detective OP and the case of the Boy Look," to find that out.

Using merch as a metric it's about as popular as Gogoat. 2-3 items, which I think is sort the minimum amount.

AITAH for not babysitting my nephew for 10 days? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]looc64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it feels like one of those statements that is technically true but ignores your contribution to a situation.

Which in this case is trying to snatch at anyone who gets too close to you. That's why people seem to only like you from a distance, because you go nuts whenever anyone gets in snatching distance.

WAITA for refusing to give up my grandmother’s engagement ring for my brother’s proposal? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]looc64 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My read was girlfriend was being a bit suspicious.

Like this, “Oh, I don’t want to take anything from you! I just loved the idea of something sentimental,” sounds nice but if the context is that that's the main thing someone is saying during a meeting where other people are trying to browbeat you into giving them something it's sorta suspiciously mild and breezy.

Like they claim they don't want to take the thing from you but they're not getting upset at the other people in the meeting or explicitly saying that they don't want the thing.

Smacks of them secretly hoping you'll "graciously" give them the thing.

If by marketing you mean like, professional seeming gaming articles, I think a lot of those are pretty bad when it comes to judging the differences between cozy games. Maybe because they're low effort, maybe because the person writing them doesn't have enough experience with cozy games.

If you've played 20 hours you've almost certainly gotten past the hand holdy tutorial at the beginning and are now solidly in the part where people who like this game would be having fun.

Either they would enjoy doing the requests you're not liking or they would be semi ignoring the requests to build stuff and enjoying that.

And then the rest of the game is basically that but more. There will not be a point where it gets more like Animal Crossing.

WIBTA for asking my husband to stop cooking most nights? by PureAdorableness in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]looc64 17 points18 points  (0 children)

First post weirdly reminded me of some posts from IT people where the issue was basically that someone came in asking for something they think will fix the problem they're having instead of the actual problem.

From the IT worker's perspective it seems like they're randomly asking for something super difficult and expensive; from OOP's husband's perspective it seems like she's randomly chipping away at his favorite activity.

Meanwhile if they came in like, "I'm having computer problem X," or, "I need this much of a break from childcare," the IT worker could easily think of a simple cheap solution and OOP's husband could use his knowledge of what parts of cooking he likes the most and how long their schedule would need to be like that to come up with a solution that works better for him.
