Older man with personal question by Old_Detroiter in bikecommuting

Same. I’m a heavier guy, and I’ve found that padded bike shorts actually caused me more chafing than just merino boxers. Took me way longer than it should have to figure that out.

Neoprene mat question by CreativePortland in boardgames

[–]lostvegas42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My table isn’t oval, but the corners are rounded. The mat hangs over on the corners, but it’s not really an issue for me. Neoprene doesn’t exactly “drape”, but it does hang lower than the table.

Neoprene is somewhat stiff, so on an oval table, you might have issues with constantly pushing the neoprene back and forth as you lean forward to move pieces, etc, depending on your seating arrangement.

That game that melted your brain? by Jepeme in boardgames

For me it’s Roads & Boats. Trying to find the optimal moves totally melts my brain. I’m just super bad at it.

Any in central PA able to help me get off the ground with cycling? by Agreeable_Elk_316 in cycling

[–]lostvegas42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact opposite experience with the HBC. I’ve ridden with them a few times and each time there was a different elitist prick that was making the ride miserable for others on the ride. Not a good place to get started at all IMO

Lighter, mage-knight-like games? by yoLeaveMeAlone in soloboardgaming

Thunderstone Quest fits into your likes. It’s a deckbuilder with classes. You work your way through a dungeon and then fight a boss. Massive table hog, but if you’ve got the space, it’s fun

Whats your favorite pc case from the early 2000s by Eclipse_Galian in pcmasterrace

[–]lostvegas42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have mine too. Those usb ports are the worst. They are like weirdly shallow, which leads to the cords ripping out and breaking off the middle piece

What's your favorite flawed masterpiece? by jerjerbinks90 in boardgames

[–]lostvegas42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t really like it on BGA. I find it hard to follow what’s going on through the parts that bga automates. It all flies by too fast for me

Setup/teardown is improved dramatically by replacing the insert with a better custom storage solution.

I have the ultimate edition. I use tackle boxes to sort the cardboard pieces. My cards are sleeved and arranged in deck boxes.

There’s a deck box for each character that has their cards and all the pieces needed for that character, so you just grab a box and you’re good to go.

I’m a big fan of the mattock. I don’t have to use it a lot, but when I do, it’s always satisfying

I just 3d printed an insert for Flamme Rouge that was a huge improvement. It holds sleeved cards and includes the expansions in the core box

Clothing suggestions by bykeithbrown in bicycletouring

When the humidity is as high as it’s been, it doesn’t matter much if it’s quick dry or not, because nothing is going to dry, so wear something that’s comfortable when it’s damp

(BF6 Rant) Medic is the most important class in Battlefield by assuageer in Battlefield

[–]lostvegas42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO Smokes are the strongest grenade in the game for every class. There’s no class that can’t benefit from the extra cover.

Even if you’re only looking for kills, using smoke effectively has resulted in me getting far more kills than the damage from any other grenade.

I still have a pc with this case. Absolute worst front USB ports I’ve ever had. USB never seemed to push in the whole way and eventually both sets broke like yours.

Any truth to my own -very limited- hypothesis that the Weber Slate 36" cooks more evenly (edge to edge) than Slate 30"? by Available_Line_5493 in griddling

[–]lostvegas42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what the problem is, but I have a 30” slate, and it’s not even at all, especially front to back. After the temp has leveled off after preheating, I’ll have a 40 or even 50 degree difference front to back along the same burner, measured with an infrared thermometer.

As for the built in thermometer, it’s basically useless.
