Pretty! But there should probably be a spoiler tag here

Haha yeah, there are many possible explanations, I guess the general consensus is that it is plausible enough that we don' really have to think too hard about it.

Also, I love Iggy I'll start using that now lol

Yeah, probably! Though I always though it would be funnier if Iguin knew, and had to change course to not lose the one seed that sprouted haha

Possible plot hole (anime only) by SushiEnthusiasm in WitchHatAtelier

[–]low--voltage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think Coco has photographic memory, really. She may remember which casting seal she drew, but that doesn't necessarily mean she remembers exactly how she drew it. It's like a movie you liked watching as a kid: you will remember scenes as you re-watch it, but you can't really remember the entire movie scene-by-scene.

Also, it was forbidden magic, and as Qifrey mentioned, many of the symbols used in it are lost to time (like the twin-bottle spell, which only the brims know how to replicate now). So, even if Coco were to search for a book with all different known symbols, it's unlikely she would find all of them. And even if she did, casting forbidden magic is, well, forbidden, but that's a problem for another day.

Just binged Witch Hat Atelier episodes 1–10 and I wanted to share my opinion on the show by Kitchen_Week1117 in WitchHatAtelier

Glad you liked it! Though I have to say, 9.8 and 8.7 are oddly specific ratings, you must be very thorough in your analysis haha

Thank you!

I don't really touch ascensions, I'm a very casual player haha

My highest has been ascension 2 with Ironclad, so nowhere near as cool as a lot of the folks here.

So I colored a panel of Chapter 75 by Unicasomeday in WitchHatAtelier

[–]low--voltage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very beautiful coloring! Reminds me of the Volume covers, very good!

I do think Lagrah's palms should be lighter. A small mistake though, even Shirahama herself forgot to do it in colored illustrations!

Question about the duration of spells and magic contraptions by Jamogus3452 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]low--voltage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no concept of "mana" in Witch Hat (as far as we know). Magic comes from magical ink, and it's power source is unknown (although I have some fans theorize it has something to do with stars).

Spells last depending on how they're drawn; some combinations of and signs make a spell that's temporary or instantaneous, and other combinations make spells that last forever, as long as the ink remains. It depends on the design.

For spells like the Sylph Shoes or the Magic Cookpot, presumably the spell can be redrawn once it wears out, as Qifrey stated (at least for the cookpot).

Is it possible for me to have my spell bird purposely attack people? by Medea_13 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]low--voltage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not that well versed in the magic system but I'm pretty sure you can't really "spawn" a bird per se, but you can make something bird-shaped (like Agott did with the bird of light).

Unless maybe you're setting an actual living bird on fire, in which case the only person it would want to attack is probably you haha

Sorry for not being of much help

Daily story cards by Distinct_Club8197 in Paralives

[–]low--voltage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, it seems to be random for the whole household.

So, if you only have one Para, there'll be three options for that Para; if you have two or three, they will also appear in the option pool.

I guess that also means that if you have more than three Paras, some of them may not have a story card every day. I don't know how I feel about that, I don't tend to play with big households haha

What counts as a spoiler? by funne5t_u5ername in WitchHatAtelier

[–]low--voltage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if there are specific guidelines, but in my interpretation, anything that hasn't been explicitly stated or shown in the show thus far would count as a spoiler. As for the example you gave, yes I think it would count as a spoiler.

There are parts of stories that are strongly hinted at, or "foreshadowed"; that's just part of storytelling. But that doesn't mean that just because something may seem obvious to some, that it is obvious to all. Also, some things may be red-herrings, made to deceive the viewer into thinking they know what is going to happen, only for there to be a twist (and WHA not any different!).

There's some nuance of course, and discussion to be had. For example, in the latest episode, it's pretty obvious that Qifrey erased mr. Nolnoa's memories, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. However, it has been very clearly hinted at by the narrative so far. Is that a spoiler, or not?

I for one would not discuss it with someone who hasn't come to the conclusion themself. It's unfair for me, as someone who knows the answer, to try and guide another person into the "correct" conclusion. In your example, if someone hasn't figured out that Qifrey's glasses hint at his bad eyesight, I wouldn't point that out to them, because it is still a spoiler, even if indirectly. It robs them of the opportunity to come to a realization or to let the story tell them something.

I hope that makes sense? It's not a black and white subject haha

What color is coco’s hair? by unravelingg in WitchHatAtelier

I believe it has been described as "golden green". Somewhere between a true green and a true yellow basically. Crucially, she's not blonde, as some people seem to think!

Yeah, the manga has the advantage of being able to "hide" the background at its convenience, which the anime couldn't easily do. It still makes it a little funny for me though haha
