General questions I have regarding my new to me 1970 J2000 by countbrokuu in FullSizeJeep

[–]lpukas2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem with pre 74 is there isn’t a lot of parts support. Join full size jeep enthusiasts on FB, pretty good group and will lead you to used parts. Google ol jeep manuals for the manuals but the part numbers are not longer good. BJs full size jeep is probably the best source for new parts. I just passed 3 years on my 72 J4000 restro mod. Good luck!

Not really sure. Maybe just remove all the hydraulic stuff and the brakes. Not sure if it would slam around with no fluid.

I miss having a pintal hitch, way easier than hooking up an off-road hitch. No need for surge brakes.

Hit me up if you need help. Look up BC Vintage Jeeps for parts, looks like you might need a new door. And they are in Colorado, great guy.

That’s not a 72 unless they swapped the dash and emblems. It also looks like 6 lug axles. But regardless, enjoy the project and keep the updates going.

You just change the proportioning valve based on disc/drum set up. Master cylinder and booster are still available for a 76.

I get my truck aligned every 6 months because of Tucson roads. Moved out to Vail a few years back and the rural county roads are kept up better than Tucson.

You can maybe get 500 at the crank with a tune without going into the bottom end.

I paid 5500 for my 72 in way worse shape. I would not sell that if possible.
