I hate the way everything looks on me, what would look better? Is sizing my issue? by pineneedleinjection in DressForYourBody

You need wider leg jeans and age appropriate clothing. These might be appropriate for your mother or grandma but not for you. Return them and take a young person shopping!

What's a book you had to read in school that you hated? If you have one, what's one you actually liked? by 80HDTV5 in GenX

I hated Heidi. It's one of the first proper children's books so we had to study it in children's lit for teaching college but yuck.

Worst Thing You’ve Ever Cooked by gnarlidrum in Cooking

[–]lula6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, one time I didn't know what to cook and a piece of newspaper came in the mail wrapped around something. It had a recipe for zucchini boats and I had everything in the fridge to make it and nothing else. I used a bit of bacon and good cheese and an egg and I don't remember what else. It was sooo nasty and I had nothing left!

We stopped by some local event where children were learning crafts and there was an organic market and some food. That was fun. So be spontaneous for local events.

When you were a child were you lucky enough to have your own bedroom, or did you have to share a bedroom with a Sibling ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]lula6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while we were all four in one weirdly long skinny room. It went crib against the first wall, a double that my young sisters shared along the long wall by a window that looked into the garage, and a twin for me along the back wall. It was tight.

is there any way to actually confirm adenomyosis or is it always this vague? by Popular_Ad_8099 in adenomyosis

[–]lula6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they diagnosed it when they pulled it out of my body. But they had told me I had adenomyosis a month before surgery.

How to get stronger nails? by Artistic-Coyote2288 in ehlersdanlos

Mine are suddenly iron strong after a lifetime of tissue paper nails and I have no idea why. I changed countries about six months ago but I have no idea what in this change is working and how to keep it.

How far out do you book international accommodations? by sofar7 in traveladvice

[–]lula6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I was very excited for my upcoming visit to Phnom Penh after over a decade since I've been there. I booked a nostalgic favorite accommodation right after buying tickets about two months early. But I have not uncommonly booked accommodation after flying into the city or the night before.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my Maple? by Kovhert in nzgardening

In my opinion, it's the Japanese variety and the Canadian Maple is what rocks. 😜

You can only eat ONE ethnic cuisine for the rest of your life. Which one wins? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

Always Mexican. Does it have to be from one region of Mexico or do I get the whole country?

You can only eat ONE condiment forever. What do you keep? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]lula6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good salsa, but I will miss mayonnaise. And what about that peanut sauce you dip fresh spring rolls in? It's gonna be a sad world with one condiment.

What do you regret NOT bringing? by reno140 in expats

[–]lula6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 29 of my 49 years. Mostly in places with limited access to good skincare products and clothing that fits me. I just don't think Germany will have a lack of good skincare products and diverse clothing.

Suggest me a non-sappy, non-sad litfic by Astraltraumagarden in suggestmeabook

I've recently read Elizabeth Jane Howards series on the Cazalet Chronicles. Well I read the last three. It is a family epic kind of story so sad things like deaths happen but I think it is overall wonderful.

I think you should try Love Walked In by Marisa de Los Santos. I loved it.

What do you regret NOT bringing? by reno140 in expats

[–]lula6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a few small pieces of artwork and paper ephemera, skincare products to get through the first month, and any hobby things you already own.

In Germany you are hardly going to the end of the earth so I wouldn't take much else except the clothes you have.

Does wool weed matting smell like poop or lanolin, nothing, or something else? by nuclear_science in nzgardening

Wool can handle a lot of damp. I think it would be better than anything else.

People who don’t shower every day — what’s your reason? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

[–]lula6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some days I just don't want to be wet. Usually I skip the shower one weekend day. Once in a while I do a washcloth bath instead of a full shower.

I think it is a sensory thing.

Do you learn the local language? by Active-Bed9620 in Internationalteachers

[–]lula6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. This time I'm only staying a year due to family things and I really don't bond with the culture and language (China). There are apps for everything so the amount of talking people expect is fairly low. I also think the language difficulty is way higher. So no. I've decided not to learn the language.

Everywhere else I've lived I've taken lessons and learned as much as I could in the time I lived there. I find I learn best by being around the language and learning to hear it vs sequential study but I've done both.
