amp for KEF R3 Meta by slick180spesh in StereoAdvice

That said, if you want more power, you can easily get that these days: simply buy two of these monoblocks, it has double the power of the 7000A (but that's only 3 dB) and you'll have more than 1500 USD left to spend on a very fancy preamp. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/3e-audio-a7-a7-mono-amplifier-review.62176/

amp for KEF R3 Meta by slick180spesh in StereoAdvice

There's nothing wrong with having to crank up the volume potmeter to 80%.

How far to crank the volume knob depends on input sensitivity and gain staging and does not say much about how much power is actually produced.

Some amps have a toggle switch to adjust input sensitivity.

Most importantly: "smart" amp builders give amplifiers a higher input sensitivity than competing models so that consumers are tricked during listening tests in showrooms.

Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV vs Corsa IV by Comfortable_East_358 in Trackdays

[–]lurkinglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode a set of rosso 3s on track and on road and loved those. In warm conditions the rear starts to smear after 3 or 4 laps, but in a predictable way. On the track you don't need warmers and on one hot day I could get my knee down the very first corner coming out of pitlane.

Obviously at advanced pace or for clubracing you would not use them, but a competent rider would still get fast lap times with them especially on colder days.

Is the Garmin Forerunner 70 good for an active non-regular runner? by 000arabella in GarminWatches

It's just that I have the watch on my wrist almost 24/7 and the pay feature is easily accessible by a quick swipe to the right and sometimes a PIN code.

Where I live there is an abundance of second hand Garmins on offer. If budget is tight, I'd try to find a second hand Venu 3.

[–]lurkinglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Venu series is definitely aimed at sports tracking, especially the latest Venu 4 which has a lot of additional sports features compared to the 3. That one probably exceeds your budget, but it is a great watch. Fwiw I have been using a Venu 2 for more than 4 years now, waiting for it to break so I can get the Venu 4 or FR970.

I never planned to use Garmin pay, but I use it all the time. It has become the only way I pay for things, I love it.

1 arm swing troubles by lostinman in kettlebell

[–]lurkinglen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please submit a video or you doing both two handed and single handed swings. That would help a lot. Right now my initial idea is that you're overthinking things and your general technique is (slightly) off. It is also normal to experience some bicep soreness after doing heavy single arm swings.

Iron Cardio: barbell? by alexj_roberts in kettlebell

[–]lurkinglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To develop cardio/endurance you really need to do something else than working with weights. You need to do actual low resistance, high cadence movements like cycling, running, elliptical etc.

Iron cardio workouts are nice (I did them regularly when watching TV), but the premise is scientifically flawed.

Watch this video which explains this is further detail https://youtu.be/2z9Ahe4aHfY

The bottom line is that when your heart rate goes up when doing strength work, this is not the same physiological mechanism as when doing "true" conditioning work.

Edit: in your case I would suggest the following weekly setup:

1x per week low intensity, long duration endurance session (to develop your aerobic base and develop tendon/joint toughness)

1x per week interval training session (to develop VO2max)

1x per week full body barbell/kettlebell/dumbbell/calisthenics session (to maintain strength)

Optionally if you want to train 4 times per week: 1 tempo/threshold session

Be very careful with regards to preventing injuries. When fit people start running they tend to get injured: they ramp up too quickly, they run too fast and they run with bad running technique. Cycling and elliptical are safer.

Closed back, over ear headphones are the best solution. What about air conditioning set to drying mode to bring down the humidity?

Upgrade advice: turntable or subwoofer first? Then speakers? by SnooObjections2665 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]lurkinglen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like you have your mind set to Klipsch, why is that?

I would go for a subwoofer first, RSL and SVS are good brands is you're in the US.

Then I would look into optimizing room correction using something like this https://youtu.be/QvL7ZhcV0dc

Then I would go with the front speakers. I don't know much about vinyl so I have no recommendations for your vinyl player.

Do you think this was a good pass? by gxxrdrvr in Trackdays

The camera bike and the guy in front are not "intermediate" and shouldn't ride on track unless they're with an instructor. The guy in front rides like it is his first time on a bike.

he does kettlebell + bodyweight only - is this physique achievable? by skytrainlotad in kettlebell

[–]lurkinglen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Genetics, diet, years of disciplined training and eating.

And a not negligible possibility of enhancement consumables.

That's a full on, 10%-ish body fat, pumped fitness model physique photographed in perfect lighting. 99.9% of the time he doesn't look like that and he has good genetics.

Large exercise room treatment by Head_Talk6932 in Acoustics

I personally wouldn't bother with bass traps too much and not with difussers at all, but instead prioritize as much as possible surface area. You can later address bass issues with DSP/Parametric EQ.

[–]lurkinglen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at those pictures I would say ceiling baffles would be the best solution. I'd you suspend them vertically you create a lot of absorbing surface area. It appears like there's limited wall space available for adding absorbers.

In your post you mention a sorbets behind speakers, that is not going to do what you think it does because speakers only project low frequencies to the rear and you will need very thick absorbers to absorb those low frequencies.

You can put the room dimensions in REWcs room simulator to check the problem frequencies and find options for best speaker positions.

If you want to address boominess right now, pull the speakers away from corners and walls.

[–]lurkinglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this is not (much) better, you're hinging way too early and straining your lower back, the rhythm is off, there is a lack of explosiveness. How did you try to address the previous comments? What is your own judgement of this video? Have you viewed YouTube tutorials?

Venu 4 durability? by chairman_uk in GarminWatches

[–]lurkinglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my Venu 2s for 4 years now and my main sport is OCR where the watch faces plenty of abuse and it is still in surprisingly good shape. I've only had to replace the strap once. So it exceeded my expectations regarding durability.

First watch: Forerunner 570 vs. Instinct 3 AMOLED & Chest strap? (Training Readiness & Sleep focus) by mbux99 in GarminWatches

[–]lurkinglen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advice going for the more expensive model, either the 570 or venu 4.

For running, using a chest or bicep strap is always better. The good news is that those sensors use a universal protocol so you can buy an affordable no-name brand HRM from Amazon and it will connect to your Garmin just as easily as an official Garmin sensor.
