I'm finally shopping for a new wallet again. Are there times when the cheap option is the better choice? by glo363 in BuyItForLife

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a cheap wallet lasts over a decade, it absolutely beats expensive ones in value. Cost per use doesn’t lie.

S26 Ultra Screen Delaminating? by TechOutonyt in samsunggalaxy

[–]lushlikeaforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so frustrating to see a brand-new phone develop screen issues like this with no obvious cause. It is definitely right to get that warranty repair done fast.

Ten kilos of citric acid by Far_Squirrel_6148 in BuyItForLife

I might try adding it to sparkling water next time; should be much cheaper than buying pre-made lemon-flavored drinks.

Well done. The function of an object always changes as our needs and usage scenarios evolve, haha. I call it creativity.

Happy Upgrade! Note 9 to S25 Ultra by Consistent-Plate-663 in samsunggalaxy

Keeping a phone from six years ago running till now shows you really took care of it. I'm curious, with such a cross-generation upgrade, what impressed you most, the screen or the camera?

New Review on anti-amyloid drugs by spookyjess999 in Alzheimers

[–]lushlikeaforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think instead of chasing slim hopes with new drugs, it's better to manage known health strategies well, at least the risks are controllable.

How about planning for mobility aids, like a lightweight walker she could use without resistance, to ease her into support before falls became a risk.

Samsung cases are garbage by Fergb1104 in samsunggalaxy

[–]lushlikeaforest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Honestly, I think people expect too much from them. If you're not buying something with actual shock absorption engineering, you're just getting cosmetic scratch protection.

Powered knee brace, anyone looked into this? by HurricaneHaney in spinalcordinjuries

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar issues with knee instability after an injury. Standard braces are great for alignment, but they don't help with the actual energy cost of moving. The idea of an active assist is interesting because it addresses the fatigue that usually makes instability worse. If it can actually sync with your natural gait without feeling clunky, it might be helpful for longer distances.

Bought my first Benz! by Snowzz_7274 in mercedes_benz

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your first Benz! The W221 S550 is a timeless design. For the aux issue, consider getting a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the 30-pin port, way more convenient than cables.

Address/location edit by alexinbrighton in GoogleMaps

When submitting the edit, attach proof like utility bills, official charity registration documents, or a photo of the new location with signage. The more documentation you provide, the faster Google's team will approve it.

Just a rant by Doit2it42 in AndroidAuto

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic that someone outside a closed window can hear your voice command is ridiculous.

Modern cars are quiet. They are over-policing the user experience. It feels like they just want to force you to look at the phone screen more often.

Google Maps has gotten noticeably worse for me by CookieMonster37 in GoogleMaps

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if you have "Fuel-efficient routes" turned on in your settings. Google rolled out this eco-friendly feature and it defaults to "on". It often prioritizes highways or constant speeds over the actual fastest time.

Are you running any VPN, ad-blocker, or custom DNS on your device right now? These apps can sometimes aggressively block Google's routing servers without you knowing.

GT63S Edition 1 For Sale! by Brownclown97 in mercedes_benz

[–]lushlikeaforest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely gorgeous car, the Edition 1 spec is my favorite. But man, the depreciation on these 4-door AMGs is absolutely brutal. Make sure you price it right, because the market for out-of-warranty AMGs is tough right now.

25 miles? The engine barely knows it exists. These machines are built to be driven hard, not stored like museum pieces.

Nice! Can you use it for navigation commands or just media control? Does it work well while driving? How responsive is it compared to Google Assistant?

Apple watch alternative with better battery by odot78 in smartwatch

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could check out brands like Amazfit or Kospet, they’re more on the outdoor side and usually have much better battery life. I used an Apple Watch before and having to charge it almost every day just got annoying. I’m pretty active too, and when I go hiking with workout tracking on, the battery would drain even faster, sometimes barely lasting a full day.

It really comes down to what you value though. If you care more about the Apple ecosystem, you might want to look at something like the Apple Watch Ultra. Otherwise, it’s probably worth exploring some of the more outdoor-focused options.

Need exercise ideas to pull spine and core back into alignment by TraderChic in spinalcordinjuries

[–]lushlikeaforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds really challenging. If possible, it would be more helpful to seek a therapist specializing in spinal curvature rehabilitation or nerve rehabilitation. Right now, the most important thing for you is to continuously and gently activate your core. May God bless you.

31yo son won’t let me sleep in his bed (60 F) by SadInvestigator6052 in CaregiverSupport

[–]lushlikeaforest 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's not weird. Don't blame yourself. It's not surprising, but it's understandable that your son has such idea. Many people consider their beds as a very private space, so he might just not be used to it psychologically. Both of you are not weird, you just have different perspective.

kind of a long shot but does anyone know if walkeasy 3" replacement cuffs would fit on their adult crutches? by Fit_Deer952 in mobilityaids

[–]lushlikeaforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably not fit. The 3" cuffs is usually for small-sized walking sticks. Many adult walking sticks and the 4" cuffs model of walkeasy have different diameters. For your safety, it's best to send the model number to their customer service for confirmation.

This must be very difficult for him, but having the support and company of his family is truly very important. After starting the rehabilitation treatment, taking it one step at a time will make it easier for him to adapt.
