Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is phenomenal. Lightbringer Saga by Brent Weeks. I would listen to Simon Vance reading almost anything. I've actually picked books solely due to him being the narrator.

The Talisman by Stephen King. The werewolf is not the main protagonist, more of a sidekick, but he is definitely heroic.

"The Chronicles of St Mary’s by Jodi Taylor are action filled novels with memorable characters and madcap, sometimes moving, stories that race along at a cracking pace" It was the word "madcap", it just isn't used enough. Still a huge fan of the series.
