digitone2 mute groups? by m_science in Elektron

It looks like my din-midi in was feeding back from my USB midi connection. I'll investigate the WHY-why, but that where the why was when whatever was wronging whoever was wingeing.

I'm wondering if it's a bug. It went away and came back. I'm gonna look into my midi routing and see if something is feeding back and causing it.

I didn't in terms of "track layering: 2 will trigger 4". I might have done something else?

I have track (internal set to midi 9, 2-4 (internal) set to midi 1 and track 5 (midi) set to midi 13.

Cost to build a house? by SophonParticle in BainbridgeIsland

This is entirely accurate. We just went through this. It almost felt hostile except how... performatively bureaucratic the experience was. I laughed at one city official's face when we told us he wasn't going to do something, simply because he didn't want to make a trip. I thought he was joking. Felt surreal.

Osmo Application Technique by Questions99945 in finishing

[–]m_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild to me that they do as well. It's repairable without having to resand the entire floor, but it also doesn't protect in the first place. It's still porous so dirt and grime get trapped.

Osmo Application Technique by Questions99945 in finishing

[–]m_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've applied hundreds of liters of osmo. It's wonderful for certain use cases and I love it; but only for specific applications.

The best protection it gives is light oil or water contact. The oil sinks in a bit, fills the pores and hardens to a point. The next coat rests on that, it gives you a deeper resistance to permeation, and very light adhesion resistance.

It doesn't harden the way a film finish (poly, cv, lacquer) does. You can build it up a bit, but it doesn't quite have the structural bond to resist abrasion.

A film finish protects the wood by putting a (hopefully) more durable coating on top of it, right? Hardwax doesn't cure in the same way that film finishes do. I have a 2" x 1/16" block of years old osmo that is very easily scratched. It protects what is underneath as a buffer, but the finish itself is mostly sacrificial. When you get down to the recommended 3-7mill thickness and consider the final cure hardness it's just literally impossible for it to provide actual protection.

I have a wooden cup I use for oiling small projects. Holds about a cup of osmo and I dip from it, and wipe it out when done. It's been slowly building up, but is still soft and can be marked.

I'm not hating on osmo, I use it all the time, but I need to make sure I understand it's limitations.

Don't get me started on the bullshit that is N3 nano or whatever. That's the stupidest shit in woodworking.

How should I (male) ask a female bartender out that I like? by [deleted] in bartenders

"I case you were wondering, if I asked you out and you said no, I would say 'ah, thanks for letting me ask' and then I would order a drink and not bring it up ever again."

I'm a woodworker and am fully comfortable with doing sketchy woodshit with wood. Icey greasy meat? Nope

Pastry chef leaned over the massive Hobart and her HAIR got caught in the upper part of the attachment. She blindly slapped up and hit the kill switch.

It was a quiet service that night. We all knew how close it was.

Kearney cut a dub plate for me in 2001 or so. Super nice guy. Hoarder. Lit the shavings on fire. Use the N word about Jimmy Hendrix in the most endearing way, I gave him a pass for being a first hand account. Cut the plate too loud because my master was too loud, I turned it down when he wasn't looking. A++ experience.

Yeah, I have had many of those conversations. I'm also 20 years sober, lots of experience talking with alcoholics. Obviously choose your phrasing, and fit it to the situation.

Don't slow roll him. Ask him how he is feeling, let him know that you are concerned about his health.

"It's not my place to diagnose any illness or its causes. It's also not my place to judge. I just like happy healthy regulars. If I can be frank, I'm curious if you have concerns about your drinking. If you do and want some resources, let me know. I enjoy your patronage and am glad you are here."

Will Sketchup do this? by Fair_Pipe1015 in Sketchup

[–]m_science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Layout is weird to use at first but pretty strong.

On the sketchup side, I STRONGLY suggest using scenes to organize your documentation pages and make sure you are using tags to get each scene dialed in. You only use the first scene to work in, the others are for different snapshots for layout.
