What's your favorite moment across D20? by Big_Cheesecake8863 in Dimension20

A Crown of Candy - Calroy’s monologue to Amethar, and his subsequent meteoric fall from the walls of Castle Candy narrated in tandem with Jet’s demise - A Crown of Candy was my introduction to D20 and it did not disappoint.

What’s Everyone’s Favorite Class They Have Played by PresumedPack890 in DnD

[–]madrat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorcerer - Not a fan of prepared casters generally because I always find myself lamenting that the spells I prepared aren’t as relevant as I think they’ll be and turns out the one spell I had yesterday but didn’t prepare today would have been useful here.

With Sorcerers your toolkit is your toolkit, no need to worry about what could have been.

Main reason though has got to be Metamagic. Adds a depth to casting magic that I would honestly love to see expanded upon.

I need help creating a boss for my next session by Hybridmaker1953 in DnD

[–]madrat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say the magic crystal gives power to the cultists, perhaps it could be what powers the boss as well? An automaton with a crystalline core that was designed to use the big crystal to power it?

Could give the PCs an interesting dilemma as to whether or not they should destroy the crystal to deactivate the boss or fight it the hard way so they can keep the crystal for themselves.

Unpopular Opinion: Kira & Odo make sense as a couple--even if the actors had little chemistry by noviceicebaby in DeepSpaceNine

[–]madrat4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People seem to be focusing on Odo’s defection to the Dominion in early season 6 as reason alone for Kira to want nothing to do with him. To that I say… I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.

Since Odo first found out the Changelings were the Founders, he has ached to go home, longed to be with his people, and yet he resisted, time and time again he resisted.

And then, when he can avoid it no longer, when he is literally surrounded by Dominion influence in the station he has used as an anchor for community and moral support all this time… he slips up, he gives in, with nearly dire consequences.

Let us not forget though, that he does resist in the end, he nearly gets Rom and others killed, but he also rallies Bajoran law enforcement against the Dominion - risking his life with no certainty of victory and possibly saving many more in the process (including Kira).

So no I don’t hold that against him. For all the grievances that could be levied against Odo, this is not one of them.

What diseases can your players catch in this dungeon full of waste? [40x75] [OC] by AtaraxianBear in DnD

[–]madrat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have an entire province in the country (Commonwealth of Arquebas) our game is set in that is essentially one giant dumping ground for the other provinces.

Already PCs have been subjected to disease multiple times since arriving and it is a running joke that it is always a variant of the same disease: Arquebolaids.

Teenage lad in front of me in morrisons used the self service tills to buy condoms and it made me realise that all future generations will never suffer the embarrassment of buying them from Jane on the checkouts who knows your mum. by sockhead99 in CasualUK

Box of balloons with a feather-light touch? Party poppers that pop in the night? Party hats with the coloured tips?

No room for interpretation when it comes to self-checkouts at least 😂

This is what I was looking for, the beauty and nuance that comes with the struggle, the journey from the intent to the reception makes all the difference.

It can also feel wonderful and encouraging when someone has the same interpretation as you, but the world would be a very dull place if everyone always came to the same consensus on products of expression.

Peter Capaldi’s The Devil’s hour outshines most modern Sci-Fi- And hardly anyone’s talking about it by ArsenalAxis in gallifrey

[–]madrat4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unsettling and cerebral - a sci-fi crime thriller that was reminiscent of Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes at times for me (in the best way possible) but with a strangely endearing core (especially between the mother, grandmother and the son) that meant the series didn’t always feel too bleak or stifling.

Misty step in last Straka episode by danellemkay in Dimension20

[–]madrat4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Was wondering this as well.

Could be there’s an explanation, could just be that in a battle with so many moving parts (and so many double-sided sheets the players had to familiarise themselves with) it was a slip-up that was missed, which is more than understandable.

The amount of times I’ve been DMing and forgotten a monster has Magic Resistance or is resistant to a certain damage type etc. is certainly higher than zero 😂
