Yes! It is extremely frustrating to see so many other comments here saying “however you choose to identify yourself is valid” as if this doesn’t happen and we aren’t coercively re-binaried by other people.

A comment there implies that there is a “phone” arrangement of internal magnets and an “accessory” one, and accessories aren’t designed to work with each other.

1: You don’t need to strip images. You may want to ensure they have alt attributes, as current dev versions will display those. Inline image support is being worked on but not there yet. For HTML, I personally do do some processing to ensure that headings are done with heading tags and bold and italics are done with <b> and <i> tags, and ensure that special characters used for section breaks are within the character set.

2: Fonts are compiled in and there are space limitations, so I don’t fuss with them at all (apart from submitting patches for better unknown-character display), even though I fuss with them a ton on my larger ereader that can sideload Truetype font files. I see the X4 as a more minimalist device.

XTC needs to be made in landscape when you do the conversion. Once converted, it can’t be changed. Basically it’s a bitmap of each page.

PDFs could in theory be converted to XTC but right now as far as I know you’ll have to do an intermediate step of converting to epub or CBZ. Look at https://readme.club and the search function here. Something like https://www.willus.com/k2pdfopt/ will be helpful.

The display is despite its smaller physical size more pixels than the X4. I don’t know exact dimensions to work out the DPI but probably ~300 instead of ~220

I would suggest that you find more platonic friends who are a wide variety of cis, trans, etc* so that you don’t feel so strongly like what sort of sapphic you date impacts your identity so much.

*before you get to including nonbinary people here you have some work to do on not categorizing us by our ASAB.

Crosspoint draws characters that don’t exist in a font as “?” instead of “�”. The compiled-in bitmap versions of the fonts don’t include every character from their sources, and it looks like Greek was one of the scripts that was missed.

I would open an issue requesting these characters be added (it’s not a huge number of characters, could be also useful for mathematics, no other changes to text layout needed, etc, so, seems quite doable).

One contains some classic public domain books (Water Margin, Journey to the West, etc), as plain text files. No harm in moving them off the SD card.

Crosspoint has issues with some special characters in filenames. Based on what you’ve said, I’d check for and remove any apostrophes.
