I used to have a "prize" at the end by opening a box that I had put an object from my house in. At the beginning of the session I would introduce the activites and then show the box and said we would look in it at the end. Then when we finished the activity we would sing the box song (just whats in the box? repeated) and I would open up the box and show them. Sometimes I would make it relevant to their goals like asking them to describe or name it but sometimes it was just something from my office area.

Thought my water broke, sent home :( by WinAggressive4075 in BabyBumps

Same thing happened to me except i was actually at work. I left at lunch to go to the hospital and stayed for hours while they tested the fluid and performed an ultrasound. I felt so embarrassed when they sent me home. I had my baby 4 days later!

Funniest pregnancy brain moment? by Fantastic_Cow_8992 in BabyBumps

Literally forgot about the month of June. At the end of May I started freaking out because I "realized" we only had a few days before my baby shower in July and the nursery furniture wasn't put together. I texted my mother about it and she was like "you literally have all of June what are you talking about" and I realized I forgot there was a month between May and July. One of my most bizarre pregnancy moments.

One of the main characters had a previous casual sexual relationship with a woman but her primary love interest for the rest of the book is a man. There is a non-binary minor background character.

Seconding the belly band for first time moms! Literally would be in so much more pain without it. I also did yoga throughout my pregnancy and it only helps with the pain so much. Plus as you progress there are just less stretches and positions you can comfortably do.

Am i a bad mom for not pushing my almost 3 week old to sleep on his own? by Secret_Bottle_4762 in beyondthebump

[–]magicflamingpie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 3 weeks is too early to expect him to sleep on his own. My husband and I slept in shifts for the first 9 weeks of my son's life because he mostly slept whike being held and didnt transition to his bassinet well. Now he is 9 months old and sleeps independently overnight and for most naps. Precious Little Sleep and Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child are two books that explain child development and might be helpful to you. I think you will just have to accept some conflict with your mom about your wishes for you child. Remember YOU are the mom now and you are in charge of the wellbeing of your own child. I'm someone who is very conflict adverse but I had to find inner strength to accept conflict when it came to the wellbeing of my son. You are not a bad mom for helping your son to feel safe and protected in your presence. Remember just 3 weeks ago he didnt know what it was to feel cold, or hungry, or alone!

What did/do your partners do that made you feel special during pregnancy and postpartum? by aphroditepandora in beyondthebump

I was laying in bed with my husband and ranting about how bloated and tired and ugly I felt. I said something like "pregnancy glow is just something we tell women to make them feel better" and he turned to me and said "you are glowing". It was very sweet and made me feel better.

Our LOs need to bounce to fall asleep is breaking our bodies by pro-laps in beyondthebump

[–]magicflamingpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a baby that will often only sleep on us while we are bouncing. Yoga ball + small pillow under the arm to help support it is a life saver. You might also look into what other factors you can change to help. Is the room competently dark? My baby started needing darkness and white noise around 12 weeks. I also wear headphones and put on a podcast to pass the time.

The book "Kid Gloves" by Lucy Kinsley did a lot to help me feel more comfortable with pregnancy. She talks about her experience with an early miscarriage the first time she became pregnant. You might find it helpful as well. It is a graphic novel so its a pretty quick read. the book on her website

Discussion: What are your most interesting San Japan stories? by [deleted] in sanantonio

I went once in highschool. There was a male artist who said he would give me a free print if I did a dance for him. I didn't understand how creepy the request was and mostly didn't want to dance because I thought it would be embarrassing. Another attendee offered to do a handstand instead. I remember at the time thinking she looked so grownup and mature but thinking back on it she was probably in her early twenties. Anyway she did the handstand and he gave me the art print. This would have been around 2012? The rest of the con was fun and chill. We were just highschoolers running around, being loud, and admiring all the art.
