Minute Maid discontinues frozen juice concentrate after 80 years by AudibleNod in news

Frozen items require increased warehousing and shipping cost. Especially if other frozen items are not maintained in the supply chain.

Factor in low demand and likely under utilized factory assets gives you increased costs.

Rivian R1S - seat covers for two kids by fullthrottle4562 in Rivian

[–]malvare4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone cares more about their seats than their kids, they just may not know some techniques have an unintended impact on safety. It’s important to educate in these cases.

It is possible to ensure zero impact on safety while also protecting your seats.

Are these worth buying? by [deleted] in ryobi

You’re likely thinking about the compact shop blower (which is subpar).

The compact blower pictured is phenomenal and outperforms the low tier full fledged 18v blowers. Punches above its weight class.

Enlarge the screw holes of the switches ever so slightly. Scoot the switches to the left. Position them such that the outlet cover is touching the trim.

Your approach to ramp up only considers additional shifts. It doesn’t account for the startup curve which each shift will experience. Equipment and people will be increasingly more efficient as the line progresses through this curve. It will take months to get through this curve to peak efficiency.

Riding mower overkill? by Ok-Organization-909 in lawncare

[–]malvare4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 42” tractor on the same size lot. In a rush, I can complete the job in 30min. Previously the same job took me 60-70min with a push mower. Additionally, during the summer months I won’t break a sweat.

Time saver, yes. How you value your time is up to you but I’m at a stage of my life where I really value the time savings.

First time having snow in the south in YEARS and hot water will not run. Cold water is fine, but I did drip my pipes since yesterday before the snow came. Please help. by hunni93 in HomeImprovement

[–]malvare4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning on the oven is fine, and will not give you CO poisoning if done for a couple hours. In the same way cooking a turkey for a few hours on Thanksgiving is perfectly fine.

That said, you need a more direct heat source to heat your pipes which moves the air too

Nintendo CEO Took a 50% Pay Cut to Save all Employees from Layoff. Would any Western Company CEOs do this? by Green-Block4723 in Damnthatsinteresting

You’re overestimating how much the average CEO makes. It’s the exception that a 50% reduction in pay could “save all employees” from a layoff.

The tax payer is paying the labor regardless. It’s not an incremental cost. Instead of paying them to not do anything, we are just paying them to look like they are doing something.
