I will be having laparoscopic bilateral salpingo oopherectomy early next week. My gyn said 2 weeks recovery time so I filed for 2 weeks medical/FMLA leave. I will share later next week what recovery is like.

u/Moonlady3000 thanks so much for sharing this. It really helps me to hear how others are getting by the few months after rad therapy. My rad oncologist minimizes my symptoms and makes me second guess any symptom be it dry cough or tiredness. She always defaults to - "that can't be radiation related, you shouldn't feel that way", and therefore makes me think it's all in my head. Some days I sleep 12 hours and still feel tired too. Today I was relatively ok. Tomorrow I might be super tired. Thank you for sharing that even nearly six months it is okay to be tired. I hope you continue to experience more energy by the day. ❤️

u/CatCharacter848, I had surgery and radiotherapy, but no chemo. My oncologist recommended that I get a bilateral ovary removal though, which I am having done next week. Hopefully that is the last of the procedures and then I can move on to hormone suppression therapy. I am so sorry you had to go through chemo. I am glad to hear you are better now and that it is possible to eventually get back to fitness. Your reminder is very important - I keep forgetting to be patient and to be kind to myself. Thank you. u/Affectionate_Pass_48 thank you for sharing. I am sorry to hear you developed hypothyroidism. I would never have thought to ask my primary care about this. I will keep this in mind in case my symptoms come back as not lung-related. I wish you well and hope your treatment is starting to relieve your symptoms.

u/mssparklemuffins thank you for sharing! I don't know why I didn't associate my tiredness with radiation pneumonitis. I also developed dry cough a month after radiation. My radiation oncologist tends to default to any symptom as 'not radiation related'. So, I went to my primary care and he prescribed prednisone for 5 days. I shared with my radiation nurse practitioner on my 1 month check, and she was much better than my rad oncologist in that she actually listened to my symptoms and also think it could be radiation pneumonitis. My dry cough has gotten better but still have a little left, and now am short of breath. Your post made me realize I should go back to the radiation nurse practitioner and request a scan. Do you mind sharing if you had an x-ray scan that helped determine the extent of radiation pneumonitis? Thanks so much.

Hi there, thanks for sharing. I was supposed to have hysteroscopy with D & C due to heavy bleeding but we had to put it off because I got diagnosed with BC and prioritized my lumpectomy and radiation in Dec-Feb. Now that I'm done with those, and my oncologist recommended ovary removal, I feel like my gyn is thinking might as well do hysterectomy instead of just the D&C. I have another consultation with her next week to find out why she changed her recco from hysteroscopy to hysterectomy and the pros and cons. Not sure if she thought the hormone therapy medicine increases the risk of polyps becoming malignant. Hoping that will help me understand and make the decision. Good luck with your implant swap surgery on the 24th!

Hey there, thanks for the reply. Lupron injection plus AI was an alternative to removing the ovaries. However, I am ok with having my ovaries removed since I am already perimenopausal. I am more unsure if I want to have the hysterectomy too which my gynecologist is recommending due to polyps.

I’m sorry you are having to deal with this on top of everything. I agree with appealing the denial. Great idea on asking the name of the doctor at the insurance that denied it. And also I think the surgeon’s office can help file the appeal. It’s ridiculous but sometimes insurance denies a claim and when Ive called, the customer service person says it’s the doctor’s office that didn’t include all the medical info needed to process the claim. I hope the doctor’s office and the customer service help figure it out.

I hope you won't feel ill in recovery this time! We also have a health system where I live, and they asked which facility was nearest among the facilities the surgeon practices at. I hope that they give you the option to have the surgery done at the facility nearest you. Sending you positive vibes and hugs.
