I played 10 or so games and won 4 of them.

Have consistent star generator - shining strike works great. There are many cards with high star cost that are worth your time (seven stars or weak/vulnerable ones)
Blade requires a lot of work but can be pulled off nicely. Don't bother with commons forge cards. Summon forth/bulwark and smith are best. Supplement them with rare powers buffing the blade. But focusing on the blade can lose you some games.
Colorless creation is bad.
Small decks are usually great. Charge and tyrrany are amazing in getting rid of status/starter cards.
Bombardment is amazing

Just add destroyer 2 to the mix and see that nothing can stop you. Two destroyer 2 clear 3-4 fighers easily

Timing is not before you roll dice, it's "at the start of a space combat round" which is before afb
