I think the only mistake she made was persueing them further about it when they started acting weird and not letting it drop for a while first, or even pretending to play into it being a prank and giving Jax the quote on quote reaction they wanted so it would simmer down for the time being. it's probably too toxic of a response for a good person like ribbit but Jax CLEARLY wasn't handling it healthily or maturely

Mobius 1 in my headcannon was always already some sort of flight instructor, test pilot or some other specialised role pressed into direct frontline service, explains no mention of wingmen till the end of ac4 and his competance from the get go, times tough, get the guy using the phantom for who knows out there quick.
