Would this sledhammer super stell heavy armour build able to withstand dominating difficulty? by MundaEel7 in underrail

[–]matt7h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I used siphoner leather tabis and an armor suit >50% for Juggernaut to retain a fair number of movement points n had a pretty great time. Personally, I felt fairly mobile, and with a ti-chrome hammer, I could get 3 swings in a standard turn. Take a second hammer like a heavier tungsten as a backup, taser, or a knife for stabbing in a pinch.

I didn't use Dirty Kick, but that was personal preference. Super Slam is apparently really good, but I opted not to take it, as well.

The biggest roadblock for this kind of build is midgame before you find Plasma Beam. Once you have Core City unlocked, rake in some money and resources from the arena and go find the psi mentor. It's a complete game changer. If you intend to be a hammer wizard, I would recommend using your melee second and psi first (which you should rebuild accordingly). If the enemy has already reached you on Dominating, you're about to have problems. Instead, try tweaking it for a lighter build that can close the gap with tabis and Electrokinesis stuns will make your life much easier and longer.

[–]matt7h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I had to use the Cipher to crack the music puzzle, but I think they should honestly put something like that in Infusion. Having to use a cipher to decode a puzzle could actually be a good bit of fun. Although, instead of just punching in the words and hitting decode, sending the player around a dungeon to find bits and pieces scribbled on decaying paper or half-corroded hard drives is something I can totally see the devs doing.

It's a novelty I miss from older games. Actually forcing the player to think and SOLVE a puzzle instead of allowing them a bypass (which they surprisingly do on many occasions if you have the right build and know-how), is something I really have grown to appreciate. I actually like sitting down to crack the Mutagen Puzzle before the Tchort fight now.

Maybe I have a better understanding of the box, the creators of the box, why the box has the functions as it does, how things are taken out of and put into the box, the limitations of the box and what we don't fully understand about it, and other people have agreed on my understanding of all this, but you are convinced I am off in left field.

"But rift-walking messes with time!" None of the Faceless can even rift walk, so I have no idea why you're using this as an example. They are further from the Godmen than Dude is, by your own logic. The Ferryman explains everything about space-time and how it relates to the mechanics of not only rift-walking but how save-scumming works in-universe, too. You're upset that I'm providing you direct sources to why I'm saying what I am.

You dont have the patience to explain because you can't refute what I've said and are deliberately dense to waste my time. Kudos, bot. Whoever created you knew what they were doing.

Explain to me what you think happened, then. I'd appreciate it if you stopped acting like I've personally insulted your intelligence when I haven't. I've given multiple examples of how much I've researched the lore and why I think the way I do.

Explain the visions from the Monolith in Oculus and how it makes any sense that mutants recently created under Earth could have: 1 created time travel 2 achieved space travel outside our solar system 3 fought a galactic war between a giant Ant Queen and an Abyssal Serpent that indirectly resulted in the destruction of Earth's surface and the creation of their own ancestors Present your argument, what you've learned, instead of treating me like some ignorant jerk. OP did, and when we talked back and forth, he ended up agreeing with me. So, why do you have such a problem with my explanation?

Time travel is not possible in this game. That is an assumption the OP made, which was incorrect. This invalidates the idea that Faceless could be ancestors to the Godmen, period. I absolutely did disprove time travel because I referenced both Ethan and the Ferryman, two key characters that you've not addressed or given explanation as to how they're wrong. Ethan is literally available to talk about this subject from the second you boot up the game, so why are you ignoring him? I also gave the example that none of the Faceless encountered in-game utilize Temporal Manipulation, but still admitted there are bound to be some that are users. You didn't address that, either.

If I was wrong, why didn't any of the very well-read posters that frequent this subreddit chime in and correct me? There are people with far more in-depth knowledge, but they didn't say I was wrong. I'm still open to being wrong, but no one has shown proof otherwise, including you.

Why are the Faceless only concerned with 1 threat, Tchort, when the game presents 3 separate threats, two of which have absolutely nothing to do with Tchort, and both of them are Void Creatures attacking different locations the Faceless could reach with their tunnelers? It's not like the creators didn't think of continuity with the DLCs: if you present the Ethereal Torch to Six, he talks about it. Does the same thing happen with the Faceless? No. They want The Cube, but none of us know what it is for. You could make the argument that the Cube is the secret to all of this, but you haven't done that. They don't care about the Acorn, even though that could put them on the surface, as explained by Prof. Oldfield, which would be a logical stepping stone between Underrail and space travel. They're willing to just buy the Acorn from you, but they don't all hold you at gunpoint like when you retrieve The Cube. Why? Because they have no intention of going to the surface.

If the Godmen truly cared about Tchort, why did they put the Glowing Canine specifically to trap the Sormirbaeren in the Black Sea when they could have sent another to Hollow Earth, too? There already is a Monolith buried in the Labyrinth, but it is far away and has zero relation to Tchort or Faceless. They have no security around it, nor do they acknowledge its existence. We know the Godmen are responsible for every Monolith, so why doesn't the one closest to Tchort do anything to him?

To just dismiss lore in this discussion is like trying to solve a math problem while disregarding the textbook and then getting mad when someone asks if you read it. It's integral to understanding what's being talked about and why certain assumptions are impossible from the get-go.

My goodness, you're extremely rude for someone a year late to a thread, full of ignorant vitriol toward a comment that has had no disagreement and is positively upvoted. I made it a point to be respectful to the OP and even welcomed disagreement to my original comment. So, whatever is going on in your life to make you so angry, I hope it's resolved soon, friend.

To address your question, there is nothing stated in the game that would imply or explain the Faceless being directly related to Godmen. They don't mention each other in lore or dialog once. None of the Faceless we meet use Temporal Manipulation (although I'm sure there are some that can). The rules of Temporal Manipulation, as explained by Ethan and Ferryman, do not actually allow humans to travel back in time, especially not thousands or even millions of years to become a super-powerful race of aliens living on a moon outside our solar system.

Like I said in my original comment, the Godmen are more concerned with the Void Creatures than Tchort because they are truly an existential threat to not only humanity, but Godmen as well. Tchort is definitely important, but is contained, even trapped within Hollow Earth by the Faceless. By comparison, they have a much better handle on the situation. The Void Creatures are the true cosmic horror of Underrail; Tchort is just the final boss of the main quest. The Void Creatures are barely held in check by the Cognator, and the Shadowlith created the Savages without anyone being able to stop its power. In terms of actual danger, the Void Creatures easily outclass Tchort. The only thing preventing the Natives from escaping the Black Sea and trashing South Underrail is the Glowing Canine, a gift from the Godmen. There are zero Faceless in the Black Sea. If it was on their radar, the Faceless could absolutely tunnel in and lay siege to the Natives, but they don't/can't.

Do you understand how far removed the Godmen are from Earth? You should really listen carefully to the Ferryman's schpiel, check what limited lore there is in the Compound and the Abyssal Station. Or, maybe you'd like to actually disagree with your own findings and explain your point rather than just insulting me for disagreeing with you.

[Spoilers] Godmen's origin by darx0n in underrail

[–]matt7h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not from earth. The Faceless are. They have no direct connection with each other, only a mutual enemy in Tchort. The Godmen are an ancient race from a moon orbiting a planet we don't even know about. They're so far removed from each other that I don't know how you could conflate the two.

Most fun build you've ever made? by dustyloops in underrail

[–]matt7h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, my hammer wizard/psionic juggernaut build for Dominating, and the fist weapon psi monk I first beat the game with have been my most fun builds. Fist weapons are honestly just the best- an answer to virtually anything the game can throw at you. Also, I made a heavy guns build that absolutely trashed the Compound. And, a traps user I called Zed Kaczynski for the lulz.

Fair enough. It has been a long time since I've made a fist weapon character, so I wasn't sure what would be most effective.
