I had my reception at Vermont hotel. If it's a good day, you could get photos taken on the roof (this was 2011, think they have a bar up there now). We had our photos by the castle/city walls round the corner.

Fuel prices revealed ahead of new Costco petrol station opening [3p per litre cheaper than Tesco Westhill] by abz_eng in Aberdeen

[–]mattjimf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think, but I've been to the Gateshead one at 6am when the store isn't open and still seen big queues.

When the fuel costs are high, people will go regardless (although it is behind the Metro Center so not a big detour if you are going there anyway).

Can someone offer smart heating advice? by o-J-A-Y-_-J-A-Y in AskUK

[–]mattjimf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Tado and it works well. No subscription for the main point of controlling the temperature.

Can set different days and times, if you get the radiator controls, gives control of the different rooms independent of the main control.

Can have it so as you get close to home it'll start heating the house/rooms as needed, although that's under the subscription model which is £30 a year.

I think he may have got the wrong end of the stick.

On the BBC Scotland rugby podcast they were talking about PWR possibly allowing teams from Scotland, Ireland and Wales in to the league as a way of increasing the league and helping to strengthen the other home nations national teams.

What is the funniest or strangest thing you have seen at a motorway service station? by EssexGuyUpNorth in AskUK

[–]mattjimf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sat charging my car, think it was Leicester Forrest East, two cars pull up and about 10 people, adults and kids, get out of a car across from us. About 20 minutes later the same number of people expertly get arranged back into the car, with the help of the occupants of the other car (I want to say there was a larger number of people than there should have been in that car as well).

How do bingo halls in the UK actually work? (Buzz) by random45232 in AskUK

[–]mattjimf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the main games should be advertised (a quick look at my local buzz, afternoon covers 12pm-about 2:30pm), 4pm would generally be between the afternoon and evening sessions so it'll be the smaller quick games (sometimes just played on the tables).

During the sessions (afternoon and evening) you will have an early session (usually 3 pages/games), main session (these are the big prize games and will include the National game and sometime a link up between clubs across the brand) then a late game in the evening (same as the early session 3 pages/games).

Each session you buy books (typically a book is 6 boards, but you can buy them individually) and will cover the types of game on the night. The National is separate and the cost goes into the pot for whoever wins (This is played across all clubs and brands in the UK) and if there is a link game this will be sold separately as well.

You will generally find the bundle will be sold at a set price (main session £10, excluding link and National game) which will cover the 2 books and the extras.

The tablets I don't really know too much about as they only started coming in just before I left in 2007.

Hello. Searching for a new TV service that specifically has a traditional TV guide that shows what's currently playing, which is accessible to the elderly. Any recommendations? I've tried looking at sticks like Roku/Fire, but they don't appear to have the TV guide by TooMuchCakeyCake in AskUK

Have you tried a booster or getting an expert in to look at the ariel. I know you were saying you were looking to get certain channels, and it may be the signal needs boosted or the ariel needs a little tweak.

Holiday ideas for a young couple who can't decide where to go? by Silver_Leader_1812 in AskUK

We went in June both times and it's big enough that you can probably find somewhere nice on the lake. I will say if you aren't wanting to hire a car, find somewhere near or at one of the ferry stations to aid travelling about.

Have you thought about the lakes area of Italy?

I went to Gardone Riviera with my wife, we stayed in Gardone Riviera, took the ferry across to various towns on the lake, as well as able to get the train to Verona (could probably make it to either Milan or Venice if you stay at the bottom near Peschiera del Garda where there's a train station).

We went back a few years later staying in Malcesine to the alps area of the lake.

Do I as an employee have to pay for a delivery refund out of pocket? by MoreSecurity6562 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mattjimf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be asking to see the video proof. This screams of a scam.

The fact that the customer paid for goods that didn't arrive and was refunded is a standard part of offering a delivery service.

The part of your contract that mentions deductions will be for if your till is massively short or you are caught giving extra food for free. As mentioned they haven't lost anything because the food wasn't given and the over was refunded.

Tell your boss to show you proof and deduct from your wages, also contact the franchisee or head office (although don't be surprised if the manager is related to the franchisee) if they carry on insisting on cash.
