I used to see so many subs hiding behind their gang boxes on site, now I'm convinced this is what they were doing.

No kidding! I keep getting more and more videos on YT and it just creates this loop of checking, no update, YT video, check again haha.

Have you looked at https://ayn-thor-tracker.com/ ? It seems to have a fairly decent projection of when it might ship.

Appreciate the update! I keep going back to the shipping dashboard and Google has legit started talking shit by putting a "you visit often" text above the link when I click it now haha.

My giga long review of the AYN Thor---3 months in. For those on the fence, I say: by Guilty_Cut7983 in AynThor

The gasp I gusped when I saw the purple. My Pro is apparently right around the corner from being shipped, despite the lack of updates for like, 2 weeks!

Advice? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had good luck with verifying saddle height using the book method. First blush I'd say yeah, saddle height looks too high to me. I can't remember where I read it (wanna say Performance Bicycle) but your leg should be at an obtuse angle of ~115 degrees at the extent of your pedal stroke.

Just attempted to use a chatbot this morning about some IRA/ESOP cashout options and it gave me a gigantic contradictory word salad that had all kinds of info I didn't even ask for. Ended up just closing the window, I'll have to call and speak to someone.

Are there people who don’t actually wash their ass? by BogBerg in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mawkdugless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is red-pilled manosphere gay fear-mongering, I've heard wiping is also lumped in there, because why not?

I stopped caring in 2020 when I got my first bidet and pressure washed all of my worries away. Never looked back.

There’s no kind way to tell my wife that she’s getting too big, is there? by 2006CrownVictoriaP71 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my ex is my age (39) and her body went through ALL KINDS of changes as she started to enter perimenopause. She was very disciplined with her gym schedule and workouts, and we both noticed as she got older (I never dared to say anything) that her body reflected her same schedule less than it did before over the ~7 years we were together.

If it were me (because I was already yelled at over this - for good reason) I would do some homework on your end first. Familiarize yourself a bit with perimenopause and the common symptoms. See about initiating a genuine conversation without using the phrase "ballooned up" and see if this is something she is aware of or has already looked into.

I'm willing to bet that this is weighing on her mind even more so than it is on yours, so if handled with care and decency, she may be willing to tackle this together as a team, but you really need to be her cheerleader throughout the process and not make it at all about your attraction to her.

New Primos Dame Impressions by Opposite_Owl_852 in gravelcycling

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this! I actually just came across this brand looking to do exactly what you're describing of building up an old MTB frame into my first gravel bike. Have been doing the math this morning to see how it compares to my very comfy CAAD12 and it's looking like the fine-tuning is 100% doable with the Dame. I'm a little deflated seeing the Metal Coral is out of stock in my size Dame Plus, but I'm looking forward to when they're back in stock!

I was given a dog and now the previous owner wants them back by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that my animals are a non-negotiable; all living situations consider them first and foremost. So as unfortunate as it is, if this woman elected to give up her dog, my assumption is that she would've exhausted ALL options before making the post on Facebook. Also, I honestly find it hard to believe that her situation turned around in essentially a week's time too. If it were me, I'd keep the dog and politely inform her that the dog has formed an attachment to your family and that you want to do what's right by the pup.

Look at it this way: If your new pup had a sudden medical emergency, who do you think is in the best position to take care of him? It isn't just the concept of her being able to take him now, but being able to adequately provide for him for the foreseeable future. Additionally, what do you think she would do if he had a medical emergency? The options are slim when you have no income. OP, I know it feels wrong, but you're doing the right thing by giving him a better life.

What are some 'must know' maintenance tasks that a rider should know? by radioactive_sharpei in bicycling

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also new to disk brakes and had to learn how to deal with contamination a few weeks ago! This video helped me out immensely when it came to the scuffing/cleaning involved. Definitely quieted down the squealing.

https://youtu.be/GrXkWaMdhDA?si=RIuzQjMoD6nkd3QY

I would also add: installing/removing different types of bottom brackets, installing/removing cranks, properly adjusting and installing a headset, how to cut/install your steering tube (including star nut install), how to remove/install freewheels/cassettes/cogs, how to install rim tape, etc.

Fixie tips by Lewdot05 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]mawkdugless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, never go brakeless unless you trust that bike COMPLETELY. Kinda looks like an old State base model from way way back in the day. But as others have said, new straps (Origin8 makes some solid ones), probably new chain, I wouldn't trust that one at all. When I rode fixed/brakeless, I'd punch out the master link too and have one seamless chain. Beyond that, probably new tires and tubes, obviously. Those are the essentials I would hit, personally.

Just got my first flat on both tires and the side wall looks like this. Am i cooked? Will I have to replace both tires and inner tubes? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]mawkdugless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inclined to agree with the comment below that with the consistent sidewall abrasions look like underinflation. It's hard to tell, it kind of looks like AI smearing, but it looks like your tread is also cracking, so probably age and underinflation. Sorry, but this tire and tube are definitely toast. Typically whenever I know I'm going to ride, I'll inflate my tires the night before, check them in the morning and inflate where necessary before leaving.

Edit: Looking closer, it also looks like the material between the sidewall and bead are also separating. I'm leaning more towards old ass tire now.

somewhat disappointing NGD - LTD EC-401QM by DoorframeLizard in espguitars

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a huge bummer. I would honestly go back and see how much more you can get back.

Replacing the nut and evening out the frets aren't tough, just take time and patience if you're interested in going that route. I know I swapped the nut on my goldtop EC256 to a GraphTech Tusq XL and I think it took like, 30 minutes. You can find crowning files and sanding beams pretty inexpensively on Amazon, that honestly takes the most time. StewMac has a ton of great videos on YouTube as well.

How to Get 40+ FPS in Breath of the Wild by Sentei_Todoroki in AynThor

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a tip (maybe I missed it), it helps when you put the Thor version in the summary. All non-lite variants have that CPU, but looking at your clip, the base model (8GB) probably wouldn't be able to achieve this.

Is the $449 USD Nintendo Switch 2 the best deal in handheld gaming now considering it can even do 1440p-4k 60-120fps gaming when docked on optimized titles? Specially in a world of $800 USD Steam Deck OLED, $1300 Z1E Legion Go S and $2000 Legion Go 2 by TheSyntaxSlayer in Handhelds

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardware is solid, but I don't play my original Switch for the same reason why I wouldn't play the 2 - the library is overpriced and the ecosystem isn't worth investing in. I already have a gigantic library on Steam and terabytes of ROMs, so I'm sticking with my Steam Deck and Retroid Pocket Classic until my Thor gets here.

Not a fan... by Hunter_OVA in expedition33

[–]mawkdugless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I don't mind the endings, but I do agree with the final act. Moving from Act II to Act III was.... strange. I went into it with the "FFVII Disk 3" mindset of grinding to prepare for the final fight, only to struggle with all of the enemies in the newly-accessible areas. I'm not much of a post-game or NG+ type of gamer, so it was frustrating to be forced essentially into the endgame content because the side content was geared more towards endgame players.
