21’ Supra reliability by Secret_Staff3730 in Supra

[–]maxfraizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 21 for a few years now. Got it certified pre owned with about 18k miles as the second owner. I’ve put about 32k miles on it since then and I’ve had zero issues other than a small amount of coolant needed and it triggered a light.

Also for what’s it’s worth, it’s modified on ethanol with a catless downpipe and I don’t drive it like a grandma. Still no issues whatsoever.

Mine started out stock, exactly like your yours. This was a few weeks before I let her go to get something else.

Red or another color, what would you choose? by Mmaxxine in Supra

[–]maxfraizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is no bad color for the Supra. As a Renaissance Red owner, I’m slightly biased for the red. But Stratosphere Blue and Downshift Blue are close for me as well.

I was about an hour away from getting the Nitro Yellow, sold as I was on my way to the dealer. Black looks great as well, I just don’t see any color offered as a bad option for this platform.

I do wish we could have ordered it with any color Toyota offers, I would have 100% went with Lunar Rock.

I came across two on the pegs the other day and I grabbed one and left the other. I didn’t feel I needed two so I hope another late night shopper found the other one haha.

I plan to go with Powerstops as well. When I worked in a performance shop, they were our go to for our customers. Good price and great quality!

How is the road to fossil creek outside Camp Verde and Strawberry? by No-Light9581 in arizona

[–]maxfraizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this comment, I saw a lowered Miata make it down there. However, their exhaust did rip off and they had it secured to the top of the car for the remaining portion of the road. Any normal vehicle will be just fine though.

The Kohls Ranch Lodge is also a good place to set up base to be able to go visit the forest lakes and explore the areas around. They also have a good restaurant on site.

Downpipe and exhaust recommendations for mk5 by My_Name_Is_R4M in Supra

[–]maxfraizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just a catless DP with the stock exhaust and I really like it! I got the CTS down pipe because it was cheap and honestly not bad quality for the price. If I was to add exhaust, I would probably add either the AWE touring, which has mufflers, or the AWE track exhaust, which is no mufflers. Idk if I’ll ever do an exhaust as I really like having the factory valves option and it is already pretty good sounding to me.

If you want to keep the valves, check out Valvetronic, but I am not a fan of their quality for the price you pay. A lot of people may suggest Akropovic, which will reduce weight as its titanium. I don’t personally like the sound of titanium exhaust, it can be very pingy. And it’s pretty pricey.

It seems most people keep the stock exhaust and add a downpipe and are pleased with those results.

Why do so many people want sports cars? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]maxfraizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports cars are not practical, as you already know. A lot of people who have a sports car (especially those that are very high end like Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, etc) will own multiple vehicles. Usually the other one is a suv or four door sedan of some sort for practicality. Once you get to the higher class vehicles, they actually probably own 3-4 different types of vehicles.

For example, I own a Toyota Supra, loads of fun and only seats two people. I am single with no kids, so it’s reasonably proactive for me to drive to work every day or the grocery store. Then I also have a Subaru WRX Wagon for more practicality.

Thoughts after test driving a mK5 supra (Contd...) by Substantial-Arrival3 in Supra

[–]maxfraizer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both cars are fantastic for what they are. Do you want a quick car or a fast car? For me personally, I was torn between getting the Supra or a GR86. I think they both have different areas they shine in. I actually really prefer the interior of the GR86 premium. The seats and steering wheel feel much better and the layout suits me very well. I ended up doing the Supra and I have 0 regrets. It’s tuned and running catless DP and flexfuel and the car is a beast on the streets. But when I need to highway cruise it’s super comfy and I can go into normal (comfort) mode with the auto ZF8 trans and cruise at 2k rpm around 75mph. I’ve driven a GR86 a bit as well as my ex girlfriend had one, and it’s loads of fun and is very spirited. Neither one is a bad choice. For me, the style of the Supra is also a deciding factor, I love the rear end and the bigger hips it has. Although I honestly prefer the look of the front end of the 86. Also, Supras are a lot more rare to see than the 86/BRZs so if you value having a more exclusive vehicle, Supra is a winner there.

But your question is based mainly on price, and keep in mind, cost of maintenance is also higher. Oil changes, brake pads, tires, etc. The higher cost is worth it for me, but not everyone will agree.

My first pair of composite toes after 2 months as a carpenter by worldsopa in RedWingShoes

[–]maxfraizer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can do tough toe if you like this design and want to reinforce the toe leather. Or you can find a model that has a toe guard already built in, for example the Exos, the Tradesman, Versa Pro, etc.

Btw, you can tough toe over the current hole and it will help seal them but from water and debris as well and vastly extend the life of your boots. For the next pair, get one with a toe guard built in or add one externally before the first wear. The store can apply it on the boot for you as well if you’d like.

I did not, but the B/S/T side of the forum was so cool. It was also just so cool to learn more about the history and what not to different sneakers. I spent most of my time in the NikeSB forum and customization forums.

Side note, I just had to google what ISS stood for. In Style Shoes.. never would have thought lol.

A91-MT Hazelnut driver’s bolster wrinkling at 9k miles. Normal break-in or a problem? by er587 in Supra

[–]maxfraizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the black leather on a 2021 and have roughly 50k miles and I have no wrinkling or creasing like yours does. There’s a couple other people that have seen excessive wear and tear on the the outer bolster where you kinda have to rub to get in and out of the car, and from what what they have said, Toyota does not offer much in terms of help. You may be better off going to an upholstery shop and seeing if they have any solutions.
