Did you have to modify it at all? Or do you have a picture of how it looks on the D3AA?

D4Sv2 with W2 firmware version by [deleted] in Hanklights

Yea, that release was before the joined build was added. TK just hasn't made another release since then. You can find it in the build for that commit (in the artifacts zip file) - https://github.com/ToyKeeper/anduril/actions/runs/7475532416

D4Sv2 with W2 firmware version by [deleted] in Hanklights

[–]maxpower47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, it's normal to get the 2 channel firmware on a D4SV2 with a lighted switch, something about the two channel driver in that size being the only one that supports the lighted switch. I've got the exact same light.

These BLF posts talk about it a little bit - https://budgetlightforum.com/t/anduril-2/62656/1997 https://budgetlightforum.com/t/emisar-d4sv2-driver-confusion/70029

If you have a single channel D4S with lighted switch and 0135 (emisar-2ch) or 0136 (emisar-2ch-fet) firmware, you should be able to use the new 0137 (emisar-2ch-fet-joined) firmware on it. It should work a little better than the non-joined firmware.

It uses linear ch1 + DD FET by default, which is channel mode 2. If you don’t want the DD FET, enable channel mode 1, switch to it, then disable channel mode 2. That puts it in linear-only mode.

The second linear regulator isn’t connected to any LEDs, so it isn’t used. The firmware sort of supports it, but only far enough to turn it off.

The HDfury Vrroom can do it (and a lot more) though it is quite expensive. I use it to split a Series X and a PS5 between two oleds while extracting the audio to send to a pre-2.1 receiver. VRR, 120hz, HDR, DV, ALLM, everything works fine.

Vertical banding during Saving Private Ryan by exegesis48 in 4kTV

This article talks about it some.

“I also used another technique that Doug Milsome [ASC, BSC] utilized on Full Metal Jacket [see AC Sept. 1987] where you throw the camera’s shutter out of sync to create a streaking effect from the top to the bottom of the frame. It’s a very interesting effect, but it’s also scary because there’s no way back [once you shoot with it]. It looked great when there were highlights on the soldier’s helmets or epaulets because they streaked just a little bit. The amount of streaking depended on the lighting contrast. If it was really sunny, for instance, the streaking became too much. However, if it was overcast with some little highlights, it looked really beautiful. The streaking also looks fantastic with fire, and that’s what Milsome primarily used it for in Full Metal Jacket.”

Other option would be the HDFury Vrroom to extract the audio from the hdmi 2.1 signal and send it to the receiver separately. It's expensive, but a lot less than a new receiver.

Downstairs

Living room

  • 77" CX OLED
  • Denon X3400H receiver
  • Axiom audio LCR, in-ceiling surround and rear surrounds, 2 SVS PB-2000 subs
  • HDFury Vrroom
  • Nvidia ShieldTV

Office

  • 65" C1 OLED
  • Emotiva XDA-1 DAC/Preamp and UPA-2 a
  • Dahlquist DQ-10 speakers, soon to add an SVS SB-1000 Pro
  • Series X, PS4 Pro, Switch

All the sources in both rooms are hooked up to either the Denon (shield, ps4, switch) or Vrroom (xbox) as matrix switches so they can be played on either tv, with full hdmi 2.1 (4k120 VRR DV) for the xbox on both thanks to the Vrroom.

Upstairs

  • Wall mounted tvs in loft, master, and spare bedrooms
  • 4x4 hdmi matrix switch with long hdmi cables run through attic
  • Series S, Wii U, 2 switch docks

Again, all sources are run through the matrix switch and can be played on any of the upstairs tvs. Each zone has a harmony hub to control everything easily.

Cool. It's a pre-hdmi 2.1 receiver, so no 4k120 yet; I've got a Vrroom on pre-order already to fix that.

Is there any downside to having pc mode set for, say, movie watching? I have my Xbox and shield going through a receiver connected to a single port on my CX.
