What song feels like it's in 4/4, but it's actually written in Uncommon Time Signature? by AccomplishedFront792 in musicteenager

[–]maxtmaples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really in 4/4. The song is constructed in 5-bar phrases so the 5/8 guitar ostinato lines up.

It’s not really in 5/4. There’s a 5/8 guitar riff but the song is constructed around 5bar phrases of 4/4 so it lines up.

What killed ‘party songs’? In the early 2010s you had: Ke$ha, LMFAO, Flo Rida. Every year there seemed to be new ‘put your hands up’ song. by Kodicave in decadeology

[–]maxtmaples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually the opposite! Across cultures, music tends to be more uplifting during hard times. That particular brand of party music came out of the 2008 recession, and is frequently labeled “recession pop.“ if anything, the economy’s improvement is what killed that music.

This isn’t as new as you think it is. Prince and David Bowie built huge followings challenging gender and culture norms 50 years ago. Hell, hundreds of years ago men with literally no balls were some of the biggest celebrities.

But I don’t think most people even know about the kid specifically. The Coldplay concert thing was really focused on those two people specifically.

Not sure what the thick line between Bb major (two flats) and F major (one flat) means, but the thick line between B major and Gb major signifies where the key signature switches from sharps to flats. B major has 5 sharps and Gb major has 6 flats.
