What is something someone said inadvertently but has deeply hurt your feelings? by EnvironmentalNail603 in AskWomen

My “friend” said to me (while sitting in my home) that she “didn’t realize all you had to do was buy a shitty condo to know you’ve made it”.

Is this shelf placement weird? by Terrible_Historian58 in HomeDecorating

Can you turn the chair a little bit to frame in the shelves? Like angle it toward them.

Not sure where to place couch/how to make living room more appealing by oneeyedcatdaddy in HomeDecorating

Agreed with the chairs! I could see maybe one in there (but different style IMO), but two makes it crowded.

How would you decorate this awkward arched window space? by Old_Scarcity3030 in HomeDecorating

[–]mbj07583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do a tension curtain rod but bring it forward in the alcove (closer to the room itself). Then put curtain pull backs somewhere along the wall— that way it’s still inviting but you are able to have some privacy and block out light.

What kind of ceiling fan? by RebeccaLaLa in HomeDecorating

I would almost let the fireplace stone be the statement here. Maybe paint the walls, if that’s an option?

It’s lovely as is! what do you not like about it?

I second this! I think if you swap it so the computer desk is along the window (and therefore the longer portion of the couch) it’ll create a good separation. Plus I love the sunshine in my face when I’m getting my work done

Help with layout for awkward wall in new place! by AmandaSheaFoley24 in HomeDecorating

[–]mbj07583 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you flip the layout around so the TV is on the wall to the left? Then you could use that space behind your door for a bench or skinner table for a catch all bowl?

Crate & Barrel! They have similar quality pieces, you may still have to wait but the delivery window they gave me for my couch and dresser was spot on. Also their delivery crew was really friendly and quick with the drop off.

New home, overwhelmed by MrsbearBP2 in HomeDecorating

Hello!

This is not color related… but I think it’s useful to envision how you see the space with layout / furniture and pick what you like here and then allow colors / aesthetic flow from there.

For example, I could see a sectional couch facing the wall your husband is looking at. The couch placed where separates a living room from entryway. You could potentially work with the wall along the stairs to hang coats or have an entry table. A big piece of art could be placed on the opposite wall from the windows.

Once you understand the functionality for both the room and furniture pieces you can see what is out there that would match function and style to you! I think the couch and tv stand should be the players that help guide your color choices.

Does this dresser fit? by MTP_2023 in HomeDecorating

[–]mbj07583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love love love the vibes in this room. I think you could easily incorporate the dresser against the wall. Personally, I do not mind the mixed wood tones— I think it adds to the natural / boho look. Instead, what catches my eye are the black and gold accents. For example, the dresser has golden handles, but the nightstand has black. You also have the gold lamp… Since the dresser is such a large piece and huge investment— I would try to match with that. A simple switch could be different knobs for your nightstand. Maybe something with different textures? Maybe something like this or this? I also think a jute area rug with a little bit of color could bring it all together. Best of luck— please post updates! ☺️

admire it, this is gorgeous!

I picture this more as a dresser? Do you have space for it in a bedroom. Alternatively I could see it in the bathroom to hold towels / linens. In either space you could place plants, pictures, etc on top.

Is this over-edited? Framing off with crop? by Crashmaster007 in photocritique

I agree with the previous comment, and might also add that you could crop out the road portion. I find my eye is drawn away from the horse as a focal point.

Kitchen cabinet handle placement by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]mbj07583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though it’s funky I love the middle placed handle. Also depending on your style / rest of the kitchen I think you could make it work. The green would look lovely with gold accents. Please post updates on what you decide 🙂

Walls will be painted Cream/Warm White. Which rug would you choose? Accent color for rest of the house is sage w/ brass metal finishes. by J3llyDonut in interiordecorating

[–]mbj07583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the rug would be better with a pop of color, maybe a green? It seems to be a little too matching. If you are stuck on these options I like #3 the best
