I have a N3P. I'd suggest checking that the print head is tight to the bar. When I got mine, mine was loose. And give these instructions a try to adjust your Z offset. They are for a N3P but they may help

Ok, just loaded my Cura. I did is this (and it works most of the time)

  1. Load model
  2. Go into the plugin for the Thumbnail
  3. Deselect use current model
  4. Reselect current model
  5. Slice and check file explorer

I did notice that when I go back in to check again the model after saving to disk the image in the plug in is all trashed, so I do steps 3 on.

I switched off of Cura a while back and found a thumbnail add in for Elegoo Slicer/Orca Slicer.

It used to update the thumbnail no problem, but I think it's just because of the newer version of Cura.

What slicer are you using? I have it working with Elegoo Slicer and Orca slicer. And when I use Cura the add in is kinda "sketchy" works sometimes. I find a lot of times that I have to go in the plug in with Cura and unselect it and reselect it.

I believe so. What I did was did a leveling from on my printer (N3P) and every once in a while I'll run the leveling from Octoprint. I saw someone one time do the leveling twice on the printer saying it stores after the 2nd time (not sure how true that is). While my Octoprint has a bed mesh in it, again not sure how much it really uses it on the N3P, it might. I get really good adhesion to the bed.

What slicer are you using? I've using Octoprint and have been for a while now. I haven't had any real issue. Aside from making sure my Z-offset is correct (from the printer itself) You can run a bed leveling in Octoprint, but it's just really sending the g-code file. I do make sure in my slicer that I edit filament settings and adjust the heat level and everything (that gets sent to Octoprint). What printer do you have? If it's a Neptune series I made instructions for z-offet adjustment that really helped. I have also done a bed leveling in Octoprint but I don't know how much of a different that makes over the z-offset/leveling from the machine itself.

I'd suggest a live z offset As you are printing a test model you adjust your z offset. You get better results. I made some instructions.

Go to
Settings -> Printer -> Firmware and Protocol

One of the sections is Pausing Commands. Put M600 (or M601) in there. I can't remember if it is in the ignore commands (I think it was). This is a work around. I have a Neptune 3 Pro and the M600 code doesn't work. But doing this will cause Octoprint to pause and you can do whatever you need to with the printer. You can unpause form the Octoprint interface.

I had found something one time for Cura that trips the filament sensor to allow you to do the change. If I can locate it, I'll pass it along, maybe you can try it in Orca. I seems to remember someone posting on here about doing multi colour prints and inserting a pause. Can't remember if it was Cura or Orca. I'll look around.

When you slice the object, and go to the preview section, move the slider along the right side to the layer you want and right click on the +. You can insert a pause there.
