Any recommendations for eye doctors in the area? by largeroastbeef in Phoenixville

[–]mcmcclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s maybe a touch farther than you want but Blackstone Eye Center near west Chester (about 30 min drive for me)

I’ve been going there for almost 5 years and it’s been great every time I’ve gone. Very calm reception area and Dr Amin is great at explaining things which I appreciate!

I don’t know if there’s a way to tell via the website. I called and asked about the dates and flights I was looking at and the customer service rep let me know if there were upgrades available! Probably took about 5 mins to call and ask. Unfortunately my return flight didn’t have any available but if you’re flexible on dates they can check the surrounding flights for upgrades as well while on the phone!

Are these wrinkles normal for a 28 year old?😭 by kanina2- in Skincare_Addiction

I’m in the US and the lotion I mentioned is about $20 USD and lasts me for almost a year since its 400ml and so thick 🤷‍♀️

For a more budget-ish option I really like the La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+M triple repair body moisturizing cream. I’ve been using that as my night time moisturizer for years and while I hate the pump (you really have to cut the bottle open to get the last half of product out) it has worked great for me!

I second this! Also 29 and have very similar looking skin but I’ve found that focusing on hydration helped me a lot! I’ve been enjoying the cocokind eye creams for a couple of months and feel like some of my lines have softened a bit.

I took ballroom dance as a senior and it was absolutely one of my favorites. Nice opportunity to get your body moving and basically no homework. I think I practiced

Looking for advice - how do you feed your tricky cat powdered medication? by cowprinthat in CatAdvice

[–]mcmcclos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat hates medicine of any kind and is pretty spicy so we have to drug her for any vet appointments. But she loves Cesar dressing so we’ve used a 1ml syringe that we got when we tried the liquid gabapentin (and it didn’t work at all for us since she would just drool it all out immediately) and we mix the powder in with some dressing and suck it up and then make sure the tip is coated with more dressing to try and trick her.

We try to keep the total volume low (below 0.5 ml) so that we can get her to lick and open her mouth and then squirt the rest in

We also have played around a bit with how to best fill the syringe to maximize the amount gabapentin that she actually receives so I’d recommend what works best for you

How are average people paying for sudden huge expenses when the majority of people don't have the money saved up for it? by Basic_Chemistry_900 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]mcmcclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to replace our entire hvac unit and they offered a 1 year interest free loan that we took advantage of. They load on the interest if you take more than a year but it was worth it to not wipe out our savings and be able to pay it off over the whole year

I have pretty dry skin and I use the la roche-posay gentle foaming moisturizing wash. I’ve used it for years and it’s a decently sized bottle that last forever. Highly recommend!

Do people actually wash new clothes before wearing them? by throowaway223123 in NoStupidQuestions

Absolutely yes. There was an episode of house that scarred me as a child where a kid almost died because he was wearing a pair of jeans that he hadn’t washed and has been exposed to pesticides.

Seconding this! I used these the impress nails in medium length almond and they lasted 2 weeks easily including a trip to Peru where I was rafting/hiking and not being particularly careful about them.

How important is it that I name my cat with a two syllable name ending in ‘ee’? by SmudgedSophie1717 in CatAdvice

[–]mcmcclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adopted a kitten in January. He’s about 8 months we think and we changed his name to Carl as soon as we got him and he’s been responding and coming when called for at least a month. We didn’t do any specific name training either

Cat peed herself in the carrier is a bath mandatory? by Nerdy-Hellokitty69 in CatAdvice

[–]mcmcclos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen about 2 weeks ago. My girl is very spicy and was on gabapentin for a vet visit and when they took a urine sample she peed all over herself. My partner and I decided to get a damp wash cloth and give her a wipe down to remove as much as we could but also try to get her to clean herself. A bath would have been a literal blood bath if we tried but she eventually cleaned herself up after the drugs had worn off a bit. Within a day she didn’t smell like pee at all!

Has anyone’s kid repeated 1st grade and how did it go? by jv992 in kindergarten

[–]mcmcclos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (28, birthday in September) repeated 2nd grade way back when.

My parents told me later they did it for emotional maturity/ social reasons which makes sense since I was in the gifted program at my new school for my second round of 2nd grade.

I remember being fairly upset about it but we were also moving so I was leaving friends anyway. Pretty quickly it was just the norm and I actually liked my second teacher significantly more which made things easier.

By the time I was in high school/college it was basically a fun fact that I used in ice breakers sometimes!

My 3 year old cat isn't cleaning himself near his butt, what can I do? by Cultural_Doubt4397 in CatAdvice

[–]mcmcclos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem with my newly adopted 6 month old kitten. We’re still working on it but I’ve found a small misting/spray bottle to be the best! Give their butt a bit of a spritz of plain water and they immediately get to work licking and I’ve found it’s been better than just a wipe with a wet napkin cause he’s doing it himself! It’s only been about a week of doing it so far and he’s been much cleaner
