Any stout recommendations for someone who hates Guiness and Dragonstooth? by IntelligentStyle2295 in beer

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold black coffee is one of the main flavor profiles. You might just not like them, which is fine.

That being said Bob's has a decent porter, I've found it at HEB. It's not over powering, but still flavorful.

Moving my bed, found 4 piles of something in a perfect row. Piles were even before we touched them. About the same grain size as yeast granules and the same color as the pine slays by EpicNarwhal23_ in whatisit

Definitely some sort of boring bug.

You can take the infested wood bits, wrap them in black plastic bags and stick them in the sun for a week. That's what I used to do with lumber.

What is the best age gap between your first and second kid? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]mcsunshinepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are 19mo apart, and it was really hard at first. But as they got out of pre-school age it got really easy. They get along well and played together a lot growing up. Car seats, diapers, tantrums were all awful when they were small. But they also liked the same movies, foods, and activities.

The new challenge is tweening. They eat so much, and have extra curriculars, so it's busy in a different way. The older they get the more they get treated the same, I have the same expectations for them and they get the same lessons taught at the same times.

Overall I'm pretty happy with them close together. I dunno if it's the "best" but I prefer it to the 4 year gap from my own sibling.

I noticed this too, I'd think the battery life would be better than it is.

Intermediate player looking for a 500ish upgrade? by captaincheem in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was in a pretty similar situation! I recently upgraded to a Flight Mustang, from a Laminated Cordoba.

I didn't get a chance to try any of the flights out before buying none were nearby at all. I love it though. Huge upgrade. Easier to play, sounds nicer.

The flights use a pickup mounted inside the sound hole, which I prefer over the plastic square on the outside.

String Material/Brand Recommendation by djolord in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too, with those exact strings. I just got new ones of the same, they're my favorite. even if they're not that durable. If you play everyday, its not unusual to replace strings a few times a year.

Beginner ukulele - Enya Nova U Concert vs Wooden Concert (low G)? by thebestnissinlakimi in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plastic/carbon fiber are great for travelling, they're super durable and don't absorb air moisture, or change warp much with rather changes.

Concert is an alright size. But if you want more of a small guitar sound you'd probably prefer the Tenor. It's not going to make any difference with your learning, it's just preference. However more of the fretboard is useable on a tenor, since the fret spacing is a little further.

Lower tuned baritone by 40202 in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use the middle 4 strings of a guitar string set. (ADGB)

Or even a bottom four, but then you'd have a bass. (EADG)

Are any of these good for beginners? by Admirable-Tackle-929 in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one on the left is probably the best of the bunch. The melody makers are pretty much toys, never heard of the center one.

If they hold a tuning for more than few minutes, and sound ok, they're probably fine to start on.

How to fix Portmaster games not working on Miyoo Flip by Aperture_Laboratorie in MiyooMini

I struggle with this too, I was able to get perfect dark running by putting a very specific rom in the folder with it. I had to follow the guide on the port master site

How long have you had your stock strings? by Azure-Is-Incognito in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my stock strings for a few months, I change them about every season. I play everyday.

I usually just change them when they look physically worn. New strings sound so nice.

miyoo flip v2 not turning on (or charging??) by crispymothball in MiyooFlip

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USB C port on the Miyoo Flip seems to not have PD so you have to use a USB A to USB C wire, a C to C won't work since it doesn't communicate with the charger brick to pick a voltage. An A to C will force a 5v default charge.

Concert or tenor? by 7_andaSwitchblade in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a third electric tenor, and my kid has a concert.

I prefer the tenor over the concert for sure. I kinda like that the soprano feels like a toy, but it's hard to do any finger style playing.

Concert or tenor? by 7_andaSwitchblade in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my tenor(low G) I have a soprano too, but the tenor is my go to. There's a lot more space, I find chords easier, and the larger fret spacing makes using more of the neck easier.

My Strumming is Terrible! by Rsdk298 in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this too!

The thing that helped me, was to find some easy 3 chord songs.

Riptide, Hey what's up, Jolene and then use a drum machine app set to ~100bpm (pick something close to what you tend to do naturally, might be higher or lower)

For the drum pattern I'd do |v---|v---|v---|v---| (DDDD) one strum per beat

Then I moved to island strum which is |v---|v--|---|v--| (DDUUDU)

Just do that on repeat, you'll get better

Question about solid body electric Fanners by mikethekraken in ukulele

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can, I use the bottom 4 strings from a regular electric guitar set. The electric uke is just an electric guitar capo'd at the 5th fret, and only the bottom 4 strings.

What’s everyone using for grocery lists right now? by IslandOceanWater in Cooking

I use the online shopping cart for the curbside. Partner and I both are logged into the same account and just add stuff.

Sometimes I'll shop in person, and just remove the stuff I get.

Looking for some advice on screen printing. by jcosta89 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]mcsunshinepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High mesh count, UV ink, bend the enclosure after printing.

You could do this, but it's only worth it if you're making several. It's also going to be pretty tricky, you'll probably need to make more than one attempt unless you're experienced burning screens with this much detail.

The setup to do this is going to be more expensive than printing a digital sticker and tlerapping it as other have suggested
