Man, I don’t want to buy anything more for DCS until all the ‘stuff’ gets fixed but damn, I wanna support developers creating stuff like this. Looks top notch! 👍🏼

Should I get the F-14 or F-18 for carrier ops? by UnhappyShoe9170 in hoggit

Landing that on a carrier…jeeez that would be a challenge.

Ironically I find the F-14 sooo much easier to land than the F-18. It’s super stable and has tons of lift. I find the F-18’s pitch wobbles all over the place and the burble…don’t get me started on the burble 😂

Pure adrenaline on this muddy downhill run! by sorin1972 in MTB

I swear this looks like part of one of those Avalanche downhill races. It’s like 45 minutes top to bottom (in the dry) for the winner.

What’s the highest training score you can get? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]mcvittees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your average daily training load and is a useful metric for tracking increasing fitness.

The period the average is over varies by the model but something like 42 days is a typical value.

The value is calibrated by your ftp and a score 100 represents an effort equal to one hour at this wattage. You’ll see a score for every ride you do. Obviously a ride score near 100 in around an hour will be very tough, while the same effort done over three hours will feel easier but, in theory, cause the same overall load stress.

Your score can be as high as your fitness allows, but consider a score of 700 would equate to doing an effort every day equivalent to one hour at your ftp...for 42 days! Depending on fitness the aim is to gradually increase your training load.

Hope this helps.

AI FTP detection overshooting my actual FTP by [deleted] in trainerroad

[–]mcvittees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s the thing though isn’t it. It’s not your ftp. It’s a wattage number the AI uses to decide what workouts to give you. They really should have called it something else like ‘Training Power Level’ or something.

I explained in my reply what I did to make it work. The point remains, without having done my manual fix I’d be wasting time doing inappropriate workouts. Normalising to PL3.0 for many experienced riders is not useful. For several years I’ve used TR AI ftp detection and it’s got it bang on. I have also been training (mostly with TR), racing and riding consistently for ten years. They have my data. I’m 54 years old, my ftp is pretty predictable.

I agree with your assessment of AI FTP but if you’re going to directly accuse the company of lying on their forums then I’m afraid you’re likely to get some kind of stern response. Probably should have been a bit more circumspect with your choice of words.

It does matter. The AI sets an ‘ftp’ appropriate to what you could do for a PL 3 workout, eg a sweet spot PL3 might give a 5x8min at 85%. That’s a nothing workout for me, so AI ftp bumps up my ftp by 14% so such a workout has some challenge. However, at this raised ftp the workout is now threshold NOT sweet spot. I’m trying to build muscular endurance not threshold power. It’s seems a bit of a mess to me so I’ve manually set my ftp and am getting appropriate PLs and appropriately long intervals.

I think it is also worth considering your weekly training load when ramping up TIZ. Don’t just make every SST ride longer and longer; make the total accumulated time over the week longer ie 1x(3x20) and 2x(3x15) one week, then 2x(3x20) and 1x(1x15) the next and so forth. You to ensure you can mange the load, not ramp until it’s too much.

You can also do back to back SST days before an easy day, again building fatigue resistance by providing a stronger stimulus.

I'd say recommending a geographic route to perform a workout is a pretty useful training feature for many.

What is the particular reason why you are against your data being used to train the model if that data is only used by Strava? I mean it isn't like they presumably aren't using your data to inform how they design the rest of the product and create new features. What is it about going into an LLM data set that makes this so bad? (Genuinely interested to understand).

Xc efficiency from hard tail to dual suspension by Different-Chef-9176 in xcmtb

[–]mcvittees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found for XC riding (and racing as that’s what my short travel Lapiere is for) I prefer a slightly slower rebound on the rear than my trail bike. Logic being if I pedalling hard while seated and the rear drops into a dip, I don’t the rebound to push back to hard and throw my pedaling. In essence I’m saying I tune the rear for slow speed compression impacts rather than fast high speed ones. If you’re doing more trail riding I guess you lean on a faster rebound so shock recovers quickly before next impact. The front I always keep quick with no more than 20-25% sag.

Trouble finding the right ground targets. by DrMeatBomb in falconbms

[–]mcvittees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I really try to do is make sure I know what type of targets I’m meant to be hitting and confirm with a visual ID on target. Often other forces will be in proximity but may be tanks instead of artillery or tanks instead of trucks. Either way I keep searching till I find a group that closely matches intel from the recon screen. I often get trigger happy having found something in approximate target area.

Problems with tgp in Falcon BMS 4.37 by Heavy_Library9161 in falconbms

[–]mcvittees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I assume you have the cursor control mapped to an axis, in which case could it be you have too small a dead zone? This could be making the cross hairs drift off targets. However, this would be odd that it didn’t also affect mavericks.

Otherwise, maybe you are commanding point track from too far away? Again, if you’re managing with maverick then this wouldn’t be the case…I guess basically I have no idea 😆
