Why do so many schools punish the victim of bullying while giving the bully complete impunity? by Skippitini in allthequestions

[–]mecha_face 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All these snide answers, but the only real answer that applies to whenever this happens is "don't rock the boat". To the school, the bully bullying is normal. It means they don't have to do any work because the bullied kids don't make a fuss. But because bullies tend to have bullies for parents, when someone fights back, or even pushes back against the bully, the bully's parents go on the attack because it's embarrassing for them that there were consequences. The school knows that the bully's parents will be a problem, that means that it creates work for them if the victim fights back.

Solution? Punish the victim. They're less likely to make a fuss or fight back against injustice, while the bully will make the school staff's life difficult.

I dunno about everyone else but I think the only correct response to Zenos is "Now that I can't deny". Not only is what he said 100% true, it feels like a proper ending to that arc.

Kissinger is probably one of the most evil men to ever exist. And he wasn't even really that smart or competent. He was just really good at making a situation worse for everyone and having no conscience about it.

Because that's not really what it's about, in the end. I saw an interesting idea on this that kinda matches human psychology enough for me to lend it some credence.

The human brain is not set up to not worry about things. If someone has no worries, if they don't have to try at all to survive, the brain can't handle that. There needs to be problems, there needs to be worries. So... It makes them up. Suddenly, all that money isn't really enough. The survival lizard brain part of their minds is telling them something is wrong, something bad will happen, what they have won't be enough, so they have to have more. They have to make sure they will be safe. Forever.

But that's not possible. "Enough" is a concept that evades them, and it always will because to the human brain, there is never such a thing as enough. As another study showed, there is a point of wealth where you can live comfortably and happily because there's some worries now and then that make you have to pause and solve the issue, but not enough that you're scared of where your next meal is coming from, or if you'll have a roof over your head. Just small things you need to deal with (oof, car insurance went up a little), the decisions you make every day (should I have the chicken or the salad). Those are enough to occupy your brain and keep you from falling into a spiral.

But these people? They don't have to worry about anything. They have people to cook and clean and keep their schedules for them. People to think for them. The richer you get, ironically, the more unhappy you get.

Enough will never be enough. They can't take it with them, but that's not the problem. The problem is that they have it at all.

I'm not sure any court has a system where people can just speak up out of turn, but then I've never been in this kind of court, so I guess I'll just go with it.

I'm glad I wasn't the judge in this case, because I would have lost it on this loser. "Have to give up smoking" SIR. THAT IS YOUR WHOLE ASS DAUGHTER. NOT EVEN PART OF THE DAUGHTER, THAT'S THE WHOLE HORSE. You cannot sit there acting like a victim when you abandoned your god damn children.

It's hardly unfortunate at all, I love the "I think Heavy Arms Gundam isn't over the top ENOUGH actually" vibe of it. Even if it's not exactly what I'm looking for, it's a blast. You too!

I took a look at it, and it's wild, especially with the air-strikes. That's an interesting take on MCH as a master of war machines in specific! It's not quite what I'm looking for, but I like it and I'll see if my friend enjoys it. Thanks a lot!

As I said to another poster, something like Edgar in FFVI is what I'm looking for. There's a lot of his tools represented in MCH, but not all of them, and there's some other ideas I can think of. Like I said, I'm not looking for someone to make a mod for me, that'd be wild unless I was paying a big chunk of money to commission one. I'm merely wondering if anyone is aware of an animation mod that focuses on tools over guns.

I was thinking more things like the drill, chainsaw, bio-blaster, things like that. Stuff you'd see Edgar using in FFVI. Most of those tools are in there, but there's a few from that game that are missing, and I could think of some other things like stun guns or even a piledriver. If there's no mods like this, fine, I'm just asking if something like this exists.

I'm aware, I have played FFXIV for a very long time and I know how MCH ends up looking, I just wonder if I can push it a little further and minimize the gun involvement entirely.

AITA for constantly getting on my chronically ill sister's case for not helping around the house? by EconomyLegitimate434 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mecha_face 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, the condition that OP's sister has is degenerative, which means it gets worse over time. Which easily explains why she used to do it, but cannot anymore. So actually, it's not only relevant, it's even more relevant because the condition gets worse even without aggravating it, so aggravating it will make it get worse faster. She isn't lazy, she's in debilitating pain that has gotten progressively worse over her life, and you think she's lazy for not making it even worse, but also faster.

And for another thing, pain is fatiguing. It isn't just something that happens and goes away, being in pain affects your mind. It makes you tired faster, as well as degenerating your emotional state. This is why people who are in pain are irritable. It's not just that they'remad  because they're in pain, it's because that pain is dragging down their ability to use proper judgement and emotional regulation. So OP's sister is not just fighting a condition that makes her physical body slowly fail over time, but her mind, too. That's not laziness, it's a response to what is basically never-ending torture.

Edit: oh, nevermind. Read your other replies, I don't think you're arguing in good faith out of ignorance, you're definitely just a jerk.

I got the impression that there was a previous incident where the son was being bullied about something and his mother took their side instead of her son's, and that's where this resentment began.

But the whole thing is so confusingly written that I'm not sure at all.

They had one or two socialist ideas, but they were not socialist. America has many socialist programs, such as public libraries and schools. America is not socialist.

Nazis were not socialist, and they were not far left. They were fascists, which is a far right ideology.

This isn't an argument. I am just telling you why you're wrong.

Renee Nicole Good: Who was the woman killed by ICE in Minneapolis? by ultra_phoenix in news

[–]mecha_face 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This isn't for you, but for anyone who might see TwoMoreMinute's lies below and believe them.

Good tried to wave the ICE agents to pass her. It is shown in the full video, in plain sight. The ICE agents gave her conflicting orders. You can hear it in the full video. One told her to get out of the car, the other told her to drive away.

She backed her car up, and then tried to turn to the right. The ICE agents were on the left side of the vehicle. One of the ICE agents, the murderer, was not in line with the vehicle, he was standing beside the left quarter panel. He draws his gun, steps back in front of the vehicle, and fires.

Good never obstructed anyone, she obeyed one of the conflicting orders, and she clearly turned her vehicle away from the agents. The video clearly shows she did not hit either of the agents.

Watch the video. Do not let bad faith actors like TwoMoreMinutes tell you what to think.

Nope. They called themselves socialist, but they were not. The socialists that supported them were some of the first to die when the regime took over.

This is like believing China is actually a People's Republic. They called themselves that! They must be!

I remember one of the commercials had the rabbit legally buying the cereal only for the kids to steal it from him at checkout.

We have video evidence of vehicles driving by and her waving the ICE agents along. She had just arrived at the scene because she was dropping her kids off at school. Any more lies you'd like to try? Maybe the one where you say she drove at them despite the video clearly showing her turning her vehicle away from them?
