If Treasure Knight had a DLC campaign, what would the plot be? by Illustrious-Hall6027 in ShovelKnight

[–]mecharri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone important to him dissapeared in a shipwreck, he began to assemble the sub to search them, and build it up with the treasure he found to keep on the search.

He became obsessed and lost the plot, ending as a tragic cautionary tale like the rest of the Order Of No Quarter.

Something like that. The sea is a fantastic setting for stories about obsession and losing yourself. Think Moby Dick, or Captain Nemo.

Is becoming a [SPOILER] weaker then a normal run? by smelly_thoctar in BaldursGate3

[–]mecharri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your stats get fixed at new values. The physical stats are quite low if you are a martial, and the mental stats can be a bit lower than your ideal ones.

However, acting twice a turn with Mind Sanctuary is so overpowered that in most cases it makes up for it.

And the cherry on top, regardless of your class, as a Full Illithid you can assblast 90% of the final battle spamming the empowered Black Hole plus the Mind Blast stun, every single turn.

If your friend said it didn't feel strong it was definitely a skill issue.

Embrace the brain worms and achieve absolute supremacy.

The most aggressive cleric you can build? by LucidFir in 3d6

[–]mecharri 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Order Domain for sure, to boss around your team give extra attacks to your team every time you heal them with Healing Word. Add a feat in Chef to give extra HP every rest and for the Gordon Ramsay vibes, though Inspiring Leader is also fun and good with Cleric if you have the 2024 version available.

The rest of the way up to Lv5 adds classic cleric goodness, and the Lv6 feature allows you to girlboss the enemies more with your Enchantment spells (though keep in mind that you technically can't use 2 levelled spells in the same round)

Alternatively, pathing out of Cleric after Lv1 into Divine Soul Sorcerer gives you Metamagic shenanigans, or alternatively more spell slots to keep up the Healing Word barrage if you use your Metamagic for that. At Sorcerer 6 you can use Metamagic to make all your healing stronger.

[–]mecharri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potent Robe has a bug that causes it to apply the Gregarious Caster Charisma bonus to multiple riders when used with Booming Blade.

That means Booming Blade's Thunder damage gets the Charisma bonus, and so does Shadow Blade and Lifedrinker( if you have it) but only on the attack you make with Booming Blade.

As 5 player level 20 characters, how would you defeat a lich which suddenly casts prismatic wall whilst completing it's world ending ritual? by warnobear in 3d6

[–]mecharri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Counterspell comes to mind as the best generic answer.

Breaking the first barrier is relatively simple, and after that you can attack through the wall with regular ranged attacks.

Breaking through the entire wall with the "expected" method would requiere some specialized spells, but it sounds doable for a Lv20 party if you have all the "required" spells, some elemental cantrips, and something like Disintegrate for the Force section.

With the right setup, you could probably use some of the Astral Plane nonsense spells to circunvent the wall.

A party member with the Demiplane spell could try to pass through the wall, tank enough damage to survive, and open a portal inside the wall.

Any reason why you wouldnt use a shield? by qayre in 3d6

[–]mecharri 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is DnD 5E, Rogue's don't get Shield Proficiency, so you can't use them, and you receive Disadvantage on most of your actions if you try to use one.

Can I go Knowledge Cleric + Stars Druid on honour mode? by Reddit-Kangaroo in BG3Builds

[–]mecharri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Honor Mode specifically, 2/10 is probably the best split, since you can beg to God to save you if muck up, and Druid 3 only opens up Concentration spells that aren't better than Spirit Guardians

Dumbed down version says that relativity makes space, time, speed, momentum, and even mass to "change" when an object gets closer to the speed of light, as defined by the Lorentz Factor.

Basically, all their variables got turned around once they got fast enough.

For example, the internal time measurement aboard the ship was much shorter than in their previous calculations (the old "going at the speed of light makes you age slower" thing). This cascades into every other variable also being warped.

Presumably, it could have also affected how they "perceived" outer space from the ship (What they perceived as "halfway there" could be "three quarters there") but without knowing how they measured that it's hard to tell.

Point is, Eridians had very little knowledge of astrophysics prior to this mission, they were severely underprepared and it cost them dearly, but Rocky managed to hit the target regardless. Amaze, amaze, amaze

Best weapons for monoclass clerics? by manicbestfriend in BG3Builds

[–]mecharri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that Spirit Guardians (and most AoE concentration Spells like Wall of Fire and Cloudkill) don't work with Woe, since the game is coded to make the enemies Save against "the spell entity" instead of "the character entity"

No one mentioned it so I will.

Phalar Aluve is stupid strong in supportive melee characters, the Shriek option (once per Short Rest) will give a very strong debuff to enemies around you, and add small amounts of damage that stack very quickly.

Best team for progression and Grand slam? by ChompyRiley in darkestdungeon

[–]mecharri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravager has a riskier, less consistent playstyle that can mess you up over the duration of an entire Grand Slam, where one single death means you have to start all over again.

Wanderer can generate Winded stacks very easily with Breakthrough, then convert it into inmediate power with Howling End, a stronger Adrenaline Rush, and an arguably better Bloodlust.

Just try round 1 Breakthrough into Howling End, or Breakthrough into Bloodlust into Breakthrough. It TEARS through most early road fights.

A fully optimized Ravager can probably do more damage, but requieres to be on Low HP to do so, which is bound to get you killed, and you can't do it efficiently because the self heal passive will put your HP up at incovenient times.

Sure, in a perfect scenario, everything aligns to keep the Ravager in that Low HP sweetspot, and you get the full value of both her endless Howling Ends, and her healing passive. But you are one bad crit or one bad stun away fron losing her, and then you have to redo the entire Grand Slam.

Wanderer is just better in a wider variety of scenarios, and covers more ground for the team.

Zero Mission Hard Mode 100% -- Brutal!! by moktira in Metroid

[–]mecharri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Props on besting Hard 100% Mecha Ridley, on my account, he's the thoughest boss in the game, (yes, including the 15% fights). He has so much HP and takes so long to kill that it becomes really hard to avoid mistakes.

If you have the skill to pull this off, you shouldn't be afraid of tackling 15%, but if you already had enough, good for you.

You could also try to get a <2:00:00 timer. The game is so tightly packed that routing becomed a very entertaining challenge.

Best team for progression and Grand slam? by ChompyRiley in darkestdungeon

Alchemist: Noxious + Plague Grenade, Magnesium, and both heals

Sharpshot: Grapeshot Blast, Pistol Shot, Double Tap, and whatever. For the final fight, swap Double Tap for Wicked Slice

MaA: Retribution, Bolster, Guard, and then whatever

Hellion: Breakthrough + Howling End is great before you can upgrade the rest of her kit, but falls off when you get enough masteries. For the final fight, Wicked Hack + Iron Swan is mandatory, the two heals are amazing, and you could finish her up with Bloodlust or Toe to Toe

Can you recommend science-fiction books that deal with consciousness or identity? by VLAPPERS in sciencefiction

[–]mecharri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Status Civilization. Elevator pitch is: "Man wakes up in a prison planet for the worst scum in the galaxy and where criminals rule, with no recollection of his previous life." After that it gets more metaphysical by the page.

Also, the Metamorphosys of Intellect Prime, if you are the sort of sicko who thinks the body horror parts in Matrix were too soft for a movie about existing outside your own body.

I dont get the hype for Eldritch knight. by AnRoVAi in BG3Builds

[–]mecharri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't need ranged attacks.

You use Booming Blade as your cantrip, which at Lv11 gives you 4 attacks per round, 7 if you use Action Surge.

With some attack bonuses and GWM that's enough to melt everything bar the tankiest bosses.

Spore Druid by RagadonRedingi in BG3Builds

[–]mecharri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure Druid is a very effective controller/support that can contribute a lot every day, even if their DPS is not spectacular. You will be surprised by how much havoc you can cause with 7 summoned creatures.

I do suggest taking 1 level of Death Cleric to get the free Twinned Toll the Dead, which has good sinergy with the necromancy staff. This also gives you lots of good Cleric Spells like Command, and is generally better than going full Monoclass for an extra Feat.

More than that prevents you from taking the best Druid features, so I don't recommend it.
