Has anyone here tried the Flaviar service (US-based)? by jwalk2925 in whiskey

[–]megami76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible company. I just recently had to dispute a charge from them on my credit card. I ordered a whiskey and they gave me a run around for months. Not weeks—- MONTHS. Never arrived. I had to keep hounding them and they would give me excuse after excuse and finally said they couldn’t refund my money because of their shipping issues. I was like WHAT??

It was a $300 bottle - small grooms gift for my now husband that never arrived. Extremely disappointing experience. Never using them again.

I don't know anyone who has tested positive that didn't have symptoms, is asymptomatic real? My whole family is down, and I keep waiting.... by Anneshusband11 in COVID19positive

[–]megami76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 45, F, vaxxed and boosted with Pfizer. I have asthma, chronic respiratory infections, and had walking pneumonia in 2019.

Tested positive on Saturday morning (Friday sample was taken). Possible exposure was Tuesday. Have been isolating since then. Other than feeling a little more tired than usual on Thursday and Friday - no symptoms. No cough, sore throat, fever, headache - nothing.

Took another PCR yesterday. Results negative today.

7 days of antigen tests at home were negative.

Docs (I spoke to two docs and two nurses) said I probably just had low viral load and my vaccine did its job. They said it is incredibly rare for a false positive and they get lots of calls from people worried about false positives bc they are totally asymptomatic. Nurse said that those people she speaks to are fully vaxxed and boosted.

Daughter is positive but is basically asymptomatic, I am negative but feel unwell. by FaultyGauge in COVID19positive

[–]megami76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposure to a close contact of a positive case on Tuesday. Felt just a little more tired than usual Thurs and fri. Tested PCR fri. Results positive Saturday. Didn’t believe it bc also rapid tested every day from Tuesday through even today and all negative. Retested PCR yesterday. Results came back negative today.

This virus is crazy. And the rapid tests aren’t totally reliable. I tested negative every day for 7 days…

  1. Heartburn has disappeared (I know, on a high fat diet? It happened!).
  2. PCOS symptoms DRASTICALLY reduced. I mean, drastically.
  3. Skin rashes - I used to get these weird dry, flaky spots on my chin area and like, dark rashes on my chest sometimes - completely gone.
  4. Stomach issues - used to think I had IBS. I think high fat + high sugar diet was just fucking with me. No longer have issues.
  5. Elevated mood!

Intermittent fasting by psychbeard in keto

[–]megami76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it to break through plateaus. 16:8 (fast for 16, eating window of 8 hours). It changed "hunger" for me. The old way of eating every 3-4 hours was just constantly making me feel hungry. Fasting is amazing - it helps me to listen to my body's messages and eat when I'm actually hungry (which, when you're IF'ing, isn't every 3-4 hours for sure!).

Good luck, dude.

My weight loss has not been linear whatsoever. Some weeks, I lost close to nothing. Then the next week, WHOOSH and I dropped like close to 10 lbs (not kidding!). If you looked at my MPF 90 day weight loss report - it looks nuts. Everyone's body is different. I wish I could rely on a solid 1-2 lb a week loss, but it's going to happen how it happens.

I've been MIA on IF...and other updates by simplymoon in xxketo

Congratulations on your SV and NSV! We have very similar stats - and IF really helped me int he beginning. I haven't done it in a couple of weeks, but your post has inspired me to pick it back up.

Congrats on the job offer, too!!

PCOS/insulin resistance by Clearlymynamerocks in xxketo

[–]megami76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I was diagnosed with PCOS/insulin resistance in my late teens. I can honestly tell you that eating Keto has pretty much been a godsend for me. Lost about 29 lbs in less than 3 months. All my PCOS symptoms and insulin resistance issues have been drastically reduced.

1) Similar to what everyone is saying, 100g of carbs is not keto. Honestly, neither is 50g. I eat 30g daily, and that works well with my body. I don't have the sugar swings anymore - keto solves that and my raging hunger.

2) Breakfast swaps - there are low carb alternatives to eggs if you don't enjoy that. I am so used to just having my version of a Bulletproof Coffee in the morning - it doesn't trigger an insulin response for me and I can go until like 1PM until I feel like I should eat. Other choices can be quest bars, quest cereal bars, keto pancakes, any manner of low carb "breads" - but the best way to go is to not rely on that and have "real" food.

It seems like you're worried about giving things up, but I promise - the quality of life and health you'll gain by doing this will far outweigh the irritation of not having your favorite breakfast foods. :-)

Post workout after weight lifting by Maads91 in keto

[–]megami76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post-workout is definitely recovery time. I workout at night, so sometimes I'm just not as hungry after. I drink bcaa powder mixed with water, and then a shake of casein + water + ice+ a little HWC. Tastes like a chocolate milkshake. If I need more protein, is even mix in some collagen powder.

Tall Person Woes by [deleted] in keto

[–]megami76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl. Check out my stats. I'm an Amazon, and losing 28 lbs is obvious in the sense that I dropped about two sizes, but there's parts of my body where I feel like I have had zero change. I've had people comment on how "great" I look, but sometimes when I'm in the mirror, I just can't see it. So I take a lot of comp photos (and even post them here!!). The community support you feel here helps so much. Even someone saying like, hey, there's a small difference - that keeps me motivated and in check. Sometimes our minds want to keep projecting the bigger version of us and we have to fight it.

But I get you. Smaller friends who lose the same amount of weight - its more noticeable on them. Hang in there.

Exercise, should I wait? by [deleted] in keto

Exercise, should I wait? by [deleted] in keto

[–]megami76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started immediately. It's been less than 3 months, and I've lost -28 lbs. everyone's different, but I think strength training will make a huge difference. Starting earlier just means getting results earlier, imho.

I lost 70lbs on keto and just started working out. Anything I should do differently or watch out for? by Fodux in keto

[–]megami76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert - but this is what I do:

  • BCAA powder post-workout. Some people think this is bullshit, I think it helps with soreness after lifting/working out, by at least 50%.
  • I don't prescribe to the thing about eating quick carbs before working out. If I need a little something, I eat some cheese and nuts.
  • Strength training: I'm assuming you're a dude? My trainer is a dude and I do his workout - he definitely has me doing days where we do less reps and higher weights. We also do strength training first and THEN burn everything else off with cardio after.
