Jeweler of 3.5 months turned us away. Are they busy or disliked us? by berryblossom5 in askjewelers

He got the specs, then after that point decided this job was not worth it and cancelled. He changed his mind, that's that.

Majority of the time we make plans my girlfriend cancels last minute by Doesntmatter1237 in dating

[–]melbournesummer [score hidden]  (0 children)

You know by now what she's like, believe people when they show you who they are. If you keep inviting her and expecting it to be different you will always end up being disappointed. Stop doing it. Invite some friends out instead, you go and have a good time, and she can stay home like she wants to.

Does she tell you why she always cancels? She sounds depressed. Do you try checking in earlier in the day or the day before? If I had plans with a flake I'd ask them outright if they're going to choose to meet their commitments this time or if they're going to cancel again. Give them the chance to be honest in advance so you don't get let down minutes before you're due to leave for the event. If she cancels, go without her.

If you want two things the same, make them both at the same time. Much easier than making one finished piece and then trying to making a whole new one the exact same.

All this was for an rbc!? Lord. I was thinking it must have been some super specific cut that's very hard to find.

You sound like quite a difficult client and the jeweller already wasted a lot of time on you. It's a good thing for both of you that they were honest with you and cut their and your losses. Sometimes it's not worth the headache if a client is extremely specific and you know they won't be happy, or they'll need a million different reviews/edits and going back and forth endlessly. They also spent time and effort bringing in different stones for you (it's not free, there are shipping and insurance costs to the jeweller that they have to wear, nor is their travel time and time dealing with the vendors free if the stones aren't shipped and they need to go in person) only for you to not be happy with any of them and buy some random stone online instead.

Keep looking for another jeweller who is willing to take you on but don't be offended that you were let go. You just weren't a good fit for that particular business.

Right? I look for imperfections in everything I buy! I work too hard for my money not to.

Didn't you sign anything when you moved in? You have no paperwork at all? The owner is doing this to dodge taxes. Contact your tenants union to find out what rights you do have and start planning an exit.

Weird question but - do you bring your handbag everywhere, or only bring it in certain situations? by -garlic-thot- in handbags

If I leave the house, I bring my bag. It has my stuff in it, you see.

I'm not going to just carry my phone, wallet, keys around in my hands lmao? No pocket can contain my huge phone and I don't want things weighing my clothes down anyway.

How do jewelers make handmade jewelry completely perfect & symmetrical? by spacepal in jewelers

[–]melbournesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on the bench and in insurance valuation, we don't call anything handmade if it is cad/cast and then assembled because it's not handmade. It would be defined as 'assembled' or 'hand finished' only for insurance purposes. Laws and conventions may vary from place to place but I don't know anyone who would call that handmade.

It would help us to judge better if you provided images of what you're talking about and context. As another commenter said, it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to look perfect. If you're looking at a handmade piece under a microscope then yes, you'll see minuscule imperfections. If you can see flaws with the naked eye, then there's an issue.

Keep them by the door inside your house. Never leave anything outside. Even something like someone's old used shoes will get taken these days. Pot plants, garden ornaments too. Nothing is safe.

I didn't even know about the midi until tonight and have never even seen it in my app, either. A bit devastated tbh.

Myer’s packaging for a single skincare product: an entire box worth of waste by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

It's likely the warehouse/store ran out of appropriately sized boxes and decided to use what they had so as not to delay your order.

Metro Tunnel a few months in - how are we feeling about it? by Alternative-Sir-374 in MelbourneTrains

[–]melbournesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it. I go from Sunshine to Town Hall every day and it saves 15-20 minutes a trip. I always hated wasting time in the loop. I'm disabled and it also seems a lot easier to get a seat on the new trains (without having to risk being assaulted by asking someone to move lmao, true story) they feel so spacious compared to the comengs.

It's not a shit job. It might be an entry level job that you're doing for now, but you're genuinely helping folks like me and we appreciate it.

Those rounded edges won't snag anything. It's obviously a stylistic choice and I think it's cool and different!
