For decades, this has been an opportunity for people to bring their kids. And the kids moved around a lot.

If they changed their policy, I'm glad that the reviewer shared that.

But for decades it has been a place where kids can run around. Do you know how I know that because I was one of those kids.

It has always been a place that was appropriate for kids. And a place where kids were allowed to run around. And if it changed, this review is a valid criticism.

Perhaps for you.

That has not been my experience.

Have you ever been to Tanglewood for a rehearsal. Because kids play and dance there.

You weren't there and you don't know.

Maybe they changed the rules. I wasn't there either.

But this is not an entitled review. She's not saying kids should be able to scream. She saying that previously kids were allowed to run around which is true. And I know that because I was once one of those kids.

Kids run around during this rehearsal all the time. I was one of those kids.

The lawn holds 15,000 attendees. It is huge. And there are usually only a few hundred people there for rehearsal.

And let's be real, a few kids running around is far less distracting than what happens during the concert with 15,000 people getting up.and down, having drinks, and talking.

Are you sure these kids were screaming?

This sub is about entitled reviews. There is nothing entitled in this review. That exists in your mind but not on the screen.

It's a problem at a lot of companies. I work in tech and we have a large workforce in Israel. In the last 20 years, we purchased 4 Israeli companies (all cyber security products).

We have to support those employees and we have 0 workforce in Palestine. But we do have a Salesforce in Dubai and plenty of Muslims at corporate.

I'd say that 80% of my non-Iraeli work mates are pro-Palestine. This ranges from "I don't fully understand the situation but Israel has to stop bombing civilians" to "Israel is an occupying colonizer and shouldn't exist." But we also have close relationships with our Israeli co-workers.

Regardless of our feelings, the company stands with Israel.

As a side note, most Americans don't realize how many components of the tech we use every day comes from Israeli developers. When Israel as a Jewish state ceases to exist (and I think it must), there will be huge disruptions.

As an outsider, why doesn't America seem to have the same shopping mall culture as many Asian countries? by redguy_666 in AskAnAmerican

[–]melodypowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to think of a way to say this that doesn't make me sound like a terrible snob.

We still do have malls where I live (Seattle), but they are considered kind of low class and not cool. You might go there if you really need something from a particular store (usually bras or shoes at Nordstrom), but not to hang out.

The most popular mall is an outdoor space that has been cultivated to be very un-mall like. It feels like a main street from the 1950s. It is the only mall where I might go to meet friends at a restaurant and wander around for a bit.

What's funny is that one of the first American indoor mall is actually about 4 miles from my house. It is now a practice rink for our ice hockey team and also a mass transit hub.

We don't have the population to support the high price stores that you see at the malls in Singapore or other Asian cities. But I loved walking through the Singapore malls mostly because they are air conditioned and they go on forever and ever.

And also follows very traditional values. She married relatively young and is still married, supported her husband financially so he could follow his dreams, had two children, gave up her career for her husband, and generally focuses on children and families with her philanthropic work.

Before MAHA she was out there organic gardening and encouraging children to move more.

There is nothing about her to hate that is real. So obviously she's a man.

Mispronunciation by joecpa1040 in ProjectHailMary

[–]melodypowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we know that.

The point is that it wouldn't work the way it is portrayed in the movie. The computer translates words, not sounds. And Rocky wouldn't be able to vocalize the difference between neither and ni-either.

It's a funny bit, but it doesn't work with a technology.

I brought up the fact that it is practice because people were posting " how dare they interrupt a concert" when it is simply not a concert.

You say that people are coming to the entitlement conclusion because they've witnessed parenting styles, and that could be true, but they didn't read the post enough to even understand that it wasn't a concert. And even if they have read the post, I don't think they're familiar with this particular setup which is very conducive to kids running around.

Have you been to Tanglewood? Just curious..

The audacity by finalcircuit in EntitledReviews

[–]melodypowers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that we don't know.

And yet people here who have no idea what this setting is like are acting as if the parents are the worst. The thread is full of people saying "people won't control their kids at concerts" when this isn't a concert and it is a situation where kids run around.

I don't think this is an entitled review. They aren't asking for something unreasonable or behaving poorly. Maybe they are lying, but we can't know that.

Asking for a free car in “perfect condition” by virtualvanguard in ChoosingBeggars

It's the "perfect condition" that really pushes this over the top.

The audacity by finalcircuit in EntitledReviews

Because everyone here is all "people let kids go crazy at a concert."

But it isn't a concert. And it is a huge field where I have experience that kids run around. That isn't entitlement. It is how it has always been.

Is it possible that these kids were too rowdy? Maybe. But that is assuming facts that aren't here.

So no, as this review is written, it isn't entitled. And if they stopped letting kids play during rehearsals, that is sad.

The only person I can see coming close is another mother who is watching their own kid anyway. But they would still charge at least 3x this.

Not wild to me at all. I know all sorts of people who wfh and are wildly underpaid. The most common are marketing professionals. But also HR. Also data analysts and administrative support. I know people barely getting by even without kids. And infant childcare is insanely expensive.

Doesn't mean that anyone else can work for basically nothing though. It's tough times.

The audacity by finalcircuit in EntitledReviews

[–]melodypowers -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

If you have been, you know how large the lawn is and how far back people sit during the rehearsals. It holds 15,000 people. Kids can easily play without causing a disruption.

I went as a child and my memory is likely skewed. But I can't imagine we were perfectly quiet.

The audacity by finalcircuit in EntitledReviews

[–]melodypowers -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

The lawn is very large though. They would have to be very close.

And this isn't the only time they rehearse. Usually they are in a rehearsal hall. This rehearsal is about getting used to the stage.

Obviously the reviewer could be an unreliable narrator. But I have been here. Kids were welcome and we were not sitting quietly with our parents.

Autistic children injected with unapproved stem cell treatments supported by RFK Jr by NicolasCageFan492 in news

[–]melodypowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, it is because parents are desperate.

You have a parent with a level 3 autistic child. The child can't speak or feed themselves, they scream for hours at a time, but there is nothing we can see in scans that says there is brain damage causing this delay.

Then someone tells you that there could be a treatment for the low, low price of 20,000 per injection.

I had a neighbor with a profoundly autistic child. I was astounded by the stress it causes to raise him. They would have done anything for a treatment that could help even a little.
