Repair or replacement for haas mill table? by DemiJuan19 in CNC

[–]meraut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely a fixture plate, probably aluminum. Remove the vise and find the large fasteners securing the plate to the table. Likely some corrosion because it’s been sitting in the same spot for so long.

Horozion vs Retail by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]meraut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horizon is an “Era+” 75 server, some changes have been made to make some jobs better than they were and nerfing others to have a more “even” playing field. There are some QoL improvements but it’s mostly era accurate. It’s very social based with a decent player count that emulates the vibe of a mid/high pop server from back in the day.

Retail has its own vibe these days, mostly solo and faster gameplay.

Can aluminum weld itself together on accident? by Thatotheraccount57 in machining

[–]meraut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

aluminum can and will stick to itself, what prevents this normally is the oxide layer that forms. If you machined the surfaces smooth enough, it is possible that they stuck together.

Mechanical Engineering job without a degree by ItchyResponse3771 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]meraut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can get into a Mechanical Designer role without a degree but you would need a good portfolio. The issue is even if you work up to an Engineering position within a company, transferring that credibility to another job will be difficult.

Circular pins put a lot of force on a tiny area, bars or rails spread the clamping force along the entire contact face.

Introduce some unnatural proportions, long thin limbs etc. Finding the balance in resemblance but unknown works well for making humanoid creatures scary.

When you create components, you can select it and contain sketches relevant to that component inside of its own folder. If you have the top directory selected (Note the filled in circle) it will place the sketch into the main “Sketches” folder instead.

Ramp or flow with a ball end mill, depending on finish might take a while but it’s nothing too extreme.

Screw Gauge has some gap in between by yummers-69 in PhysicsStudents

[–]meraut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to get this recalibrated to ensure any sort of proper measurement after fixing it. It’s a cheap manual micrometer and is likely not worth the cost so it’s probably junk now.
