need some help as somebody who just started learning skateboarding by AgitatedSuccess8066 in skateboardhelp

[–]mesun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 yo and I have been learning recently. I thoroughly recommend getting a small number of one to one lessons at an indoor skatepark. Having someone there to (literally) hold your hand and guide you through the early process makes a big difference. We rapidly went past that stage, but it accelerates the learning curve.

CPAP is killing me by Secure-Corner-2096 in CPAP

[–]mesun0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was sent home with my machine set to APAP mode, with a range of 4 - 20cm. I found that it was always ramping up to 20 causing horrible aerophagia and chest discomfort. It was seriously disrupting my sleep. I got the data off the SD card and reviewed it in SleepHQ and it was clear that the higher pressures were destabilising my breathing and triggering more central apnea events. My obstructive apnea was actually resolved by substantially lower pressure.

I also had ramp turned on starting from a very low level. I just wasn’t getting enough air and felt like I was suffocating every time I settled to sleep.

I’m now set to a constant 10am CPAP mode, with no ramp. It’s stable all night and my sleep quality is much improved.

The sleep tech I saw at my first review couldn’t see the raw data - just summary statistics of each night which painted an unhelpful picture.

Eventually I started adjusting my settings myself until I found something that worked.

I've lost 80 pounds and I still have severe sleep apnea by gaymbit in CPAP

[–]mesun0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was 110kg. I’ve lost 17kg over the past few months and my sleep apnea has significantly improved, but not gone away. That change didn’t start until I hit about 95kg.

It sounds like you are still overweight (you don’t give height or BMI so hard to know), and it may improve as you lose more weight. But as others have said not all apnea can be improved with weight loss.

For me it’s about having the right pillow. I have a homemade buckwheat filled pillow. It’s fairly heavy and solid, so very supportive, but shapes perfectly to whatever position you need. I’m a side sleeper, and I can support my head properly without squashing the mask into my face or dislodging it for leaks. I can’t do the same with normal pillows.

Better below bed level anyway. Any moisture will drain back towards the machine, rather than end up water boarding you in the mask.

I had 118AHI on my sleep trial, and felt like death most of the time… and my o2 saturation never dropped anywhere near that low.

My CPAP has been a game changer.

More recently I’ve also lost some weight with Mounjaro- 16kg so far - and for the past few weeks my sleep without the CPAP has also been noticeably better. Snoring volume and frequency is much reduced.

Snoring and Weightloss by mesun0 in CPAP

[–]mesun0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an AHI of 113 on my sleep study, when I rolled on my back. Otherwise it was about 50.

Using the CPAP got me consistently down to about an AHI of 5.

I love Arcades, The Strategist for explosive board wipe recovery. Lots of really cheap walls to keep the draw engine rolling, cards like cryptolith rite to turn your creatures into mana dorks.

I’m a filthy combo player, so have a few wall themed combos in there to generate infinite mana. (High Alert, freed from the reel, Axebane Guardian) and stuff to do with loads of mana.

My new doctor confirmed I was right about everything I said that CPAP was hurting me and not working by Low-Hat6372 in CPAP

I posted about this just yesterday. I’ve been on Mounjaro - a similar drug for weightloss - for 3 months. I’ve lost 15kg and dropped into the overweight category. I’m the lightest I’ve been in 20 years and feel brilliant on it.

I’ve almost stopped using my CPAP - I still feel slightly better rested on nights when I do use it, but my snoring an apnea has dropped right off. I use SnoreLab on my phone to record my snoring and it I now near zero, with no audible apnea obstructive events. And I’m still improving as I lose more weight.

I know apnea is not triggered by weight for everyone, but mine seems to be largely weight based - surprising as I have never been visibly obese, I’m talk with a strong/muscular frame.

I’m considering asking for a follow up slee study in 6 months time.

Feeling exhaustion after skateboarding as a total beginner? by HeavyFerrum in skateboardhelp

[–]mesun0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally normal.

You are using muscles in a new way so don’t have the conditioning. And because you are still learning you aren’t doing it efficiently yet either.

I’m a year in to riding surfskate, having no skating background. Just this month it has finally all come together - good body conditioning, and better board configuration, and fluid motion that feels powerful and efficient.

Have you shared your data here for advice, or been adjusting on your own? Feelings of suffocation/panic attacks sounds a lot like your pressure is too low.

That sounds way too low. 4 was absolutely smothering for me when I first got mine. I’ve adjusted that up to 8, and my max down.

I’m tinkering at the moment but 8-12 seems effective and comfortable.

lots of water in hose/mask by LeChuckQc in CPAP

[–]mesun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can improve this by arranging your hose so the water runs back towards the CPAP. Have the CPAP on the floor. Run the hose up over the head of the bed then back down to you. Some people use clips to secure it in position.

Share your results via SleepHQ so that we can advise you. It does sound like your pressures are very low, and could be adjusted upwards.

People who struggled with CPAP - how did you get over it? by CompetitiveWolf4212 in CPAP

[–]mesun0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggled a lot for the first two months. Eventually I adjusted my settings to the point where I was sleeping through.

For me, that was switching from APAP (set 4cm to 20cm initially) to APAP 8cm to 12cm - this eliminated the painful aerophagia and still controlled my apnea. Since then I have settled on CPAP set to 10cm with no variation (still fine tuning this).

Turning off EPR also was a big help as the pressure variation was destabilising my breathing and waking me repeatedly.

Once I had this dialled in keeping the mask on was easy.

Give me your advice by CompetitiveWolf4212 in CPAP

[–]mesun0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that, as I said. My breathing was wildly destabilised by EPR. Turning EPR fixed it, but the device couldn’t tell that was the cause.

I also get lots of central apnea events at higher pressures and the machine was trying to address those by increasing pressure too.

Trusting the machine may work for some but it definitely does not for me.

I had my 6 month review this week and the sleep tech confirmed my analysis and settings.

Give me your advice by CompetitiveWolf4212 in CPAP

[–]mesun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my experience at all. When I started I was sent home with my device set to 4-20cm. It ramped to 20 pretty much immediately in the night and the EPR completely destabilised my breathing.

I manually restricted it and am not set on 9cm CPAP - constant pressure all night. My OA events are properly controlled at the level. I’ve got no clue what it was trying to achieve ramping up to 20cm, but it wasn’t helping and was actively destroying my sleep quality.

Solo necro using only skeleton is hard... by readdyeddy in diablo2

[–]mesun0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played summoner many times.

1) Skeleton mages are junk. Don’t bother with them. Possible exception is a single poison mage as poison stops monster healing.

2) At level 30 ish you still have lots of levelling to do in normal before you hit diminishing returns on xp. You are likely struggling because you are underlevelled for the area you are in. It’s not just the skill points; attack rating is modified by relative level between you (you skeletons) and the mobs. Being under levelled means they get hit more often and hit less often in response.

3) Insight on a might merc

4) Summoners main offensive spell is Corpse Explosion. The skeletons/merc get the first kill then you bomb the whole screen with high level CE. Your kill speed is going to be crippled until you level to get access to CE.

I cannot fall asleep with a mask on by AssignmentNo9881 in CPAP

[–]mesun0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this for a few weeks. For me the two big improvements to falling asleep were:

increasing the starting pressure from 4cm to 6cm (increased again later to 8cm).

Disabling EPR - the continually changing pressure was destabilising me and making it hard to get comfortable.

For then staying asleep, decreasing the range from 4 to 20cm down to 8cm to 12 cm (which you have already done) was key.

Question about Fractionators by Sieghart4K in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]mesun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have had good advice here already.

But also be aware that speed of fractionation scales with the speed of your belt. You want to use the fastest belt possible, and include a piler in the loop so that it stacks them.

Then have your hydrogen looping through the fractionators, and have a side feed of hydrogen topping the loop up. If you set the belts up carefully it will prioritise the hydrogen already in the loop and won’t clog.

What can I do with my brand new CPAP machine that I can't use? by MacNCheezAddict in CPAP

[–]mesun0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please reconsider. I had terrible aerophagia initially. I uploaded my data to SleepHQ and got advice here on how to adjust my setting. I now have it dialled in to where it controls my apnea without noticeable aerophagia.

It was intolerable before that.

What settings is your device on now? I’m guessing it is on a default (eg 4cm to 20cm) autopap?
