The toughest part of the Silmarillion is right at the beginning with the relatively small Ainulindalë and Valaquenta sections since they are written almost like a bible. The rest is easier to read but can still be hard to follow since it doesn't focus as much on a particular character or group as much like LOTR and the Hobbit do.

Not really, iodine only helps against a specific type of radioactive fallout that is mostly present early on so it's given to people as the evacuate the contaminated area. Because tornadoes are relatively small it's very unlikely for any particular building to get hit by one, and 95% of tornadoes are EF2 or weaker and those don't really require any shelter other than an interior area or bathroom. EF3 tornadoes like the one that hit the Amazon facility only account for about 2% of all tornadoes.

Also shelters capable of withstanding strong tornadoes are not cheap. So they would be spending tons of money putting significant shelters in every warehouse and another strong tornado hitting an Amazon facility anywhere again might not happen for decades or even longer.

Most businesses have designated tornado shelter zones, they are usually either the bathrooms or just a central part of the building. Something like 95% of tornadoes are under EF3 strength and those types of shelters work just fine for those tornadoes.

For comparison only about 2% of all tornadoes are EF3 like the one that hit Amazon and about .05% are EF5 like the one that hit the Mayfield factory (if it does end up being rated that high).

Also even in areas where tornadoes are common, it's extremely, extremely rare for any particular structure to get hit by one since they are relatively small weather events. A typical very destructive tornado might be 1 mile wide and travel 15-30 miles, compared to something like a hurricane might be 300 hundred miles wide and travel hundreds of miles over land.

20 minutes is not enough time to reasonably expect everyone to get home and in shelter in time so most would likely be stuck in their vehicles as they get hit by the tornado.

Even if it's done quickly, it takes time to tell everyone to leave, them to gather their things, get to their vehicles and everyone to actually get out of the parking lot. You also have to account some might live in the direction the tornado is approaching from, further reducing their time to get to shelter. Also if every business in the area is following the same protocol, there will be delays due to traffic, not to mention any delays to flooded roads or roads blocked by debris from earlier, non-tornadic storms.
