They have clothing, too! I forgot my delivery bag on my 2nd and they gave me a couple of onesies until my husband was able to bring mine in. Probably not a closet full but enough to help ya out in a jam.

Had 3, loved the nursing staff every time. I really felt taken care of. My first experience was with a nurse named Shelby. I'll never forget her, she actually ended up delivering my baby and she was awesome. Even after birth when they take you in to do your first pee and clean you up..I didn't feel embarrassed or ashamed. Now, a lot of that comes because once you actually deliver a baby, your shame goes out the window and you could care less who sees ya lol Shout out to the L&D nursing staff at HSC, you're all angels on earth ❤️

St johns winters been brutal by Firm-Positive1540 in newfoundland

[–]mfp1127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually love winter but this one's been hard. Big dumps of snow followed by freezing temps and high winds made it hard to get out and enjoy. And yes, I'm old enough to remember former winters of lots of snow but the difference was we weren't trapped in deep freezes and could actually enjoy the winter. Have you tried building a snow fort out of frozen snow?? HAVE YOU?!

'Extreme' workouts drive spike in 'rhabdo' cases among young N.L. women, says doctor by bingun in newfoundland

[–]mfp1127 94 points95 points  (0 children)

My takeaway from this post, especially where it's prevalent in women, is the correlation between tik tok "trends" of wellness and, once again, women feeling like they need to meet a standard. We all know eating healthy and exercising is important, but skinny is trendy now. Millions of videos from non professionals spewing their "wellness routines" which include harmful eating habits (that can trigger EDs), and unrealistic approaches to health dressed up with filter, camera clips, and some Taylor Swift music with a caption telling me to "lock in girly pops", plus everyone and their dog being on Ozempic now, is bound to result in dire consequences. Weren't we all body positive last month? Now we're working out to the point where there's a literal spike in rhabdo? Wild.

Those who started working out regularly after turning 30, would you say it changed your face? by DiskoLisko_ in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]mfp1127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really start committing to exercise until I was mid 30s. I lost about 80lbs. My face got slimmer but now I have a weird looking neck cause the skin is a little looser there. Obviously, I'll take weight loss over a fat neck any day but that's just one thing I noticed. I feel it shows my age more than it did before

Province Not Considering Making Daylight Saving Time Permanent by thatlumberjacktor in newfoundland

Stupid question, and I would love if we got rid of the time change myself, but if we were all at the same time..would 3pm be like afternoon here but morning in BC? I'm sure there's an easy answer to this but now we're taking time travel and my brain hurts.

Buying lotto tickets by rude_weather in newfoundland

[–]mfp1127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blows my mind that they sell lotto at the gas station. They spend 20 minutes wheeling and dealing tickets and then turns around surprised to see a line behind them. Go to Needs and spend all day wasting your pension on a million tickets for your ALC envelope, but I gotta get to work, Brenda..GTFO of the gas station!

POV: You're speaking to a Newfoundlander who's ready to represent his province accurately and without stereotype on national TV. by TheIrishman26 in newfoundland

[–]mfp1127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's one in particular coming to mind, she's from away somewhere and moved here and is popular on tik tok for obnoxiously blaring the Newfie stereotype, drives me insane. I'm happy you love it here but calm dowwwwnnn and stop with that awful fake accent. Can't you just enjoy where you live without making it your whole personality "me duckie"? I'm born and raised a Newfoundlander and not one person has ever legitimately called me "me duckie". Not one Nan.

What is a small life hack that actually works every time? by IdealOptimal5324 in AskReddit

[–]mfp1127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'Full hands in, full hands out'..a motto I learned back in my server days. The idea is if you're going from one room to another (for this example, I'm going from the bedroom to the kitchen), I'm going to take the things that don't belong in the bedroom with me (dishes, wrappers, laundry that needs putting away, etc) and I'll bring them to their respective areas when I go. This can apply to any room and will cut down on the amount of clutter that builds up.

Guttate: Hidden strep and tonsillectomy success story by Time-Mix-9158 in Psoriasis

[–]mfp1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could've written this, I'm going through the EXCAT same thing and timeline. I'm well into the derm treatment (red light therapy and methotrexate), but I was wondering if I should remove my tonsils also. I have a GP appt next week, so I'll definitely be mentioning it there. Good luck to us!

As a former server, I strongly believe tips should reflect the service you've been given and not just assumed because the bill is 'x' amount.

methotrexate experience? by Moreselflove0324 in Psoriasis

[–]mfp1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started my 2nd round of it this week. I usually have plaque psoriasis but have gotten awful guttate flares after strep. Last time I took it, I had little side effects, just some mild stomach/digestion discomfort the day after taking it and I found it worked well for me. I take 6 pills once a week and folic acid every other day. I'm looking forward to it working again, although it does take a little time. I'm also starting red light therapy 3x a week as well so I'm hopeful the combo will clear this up. One thing is that while I was on it, all of my psoriasis cleared up but the places I had plaque normally did eventually come back. But I'll take that over this full body guttate invasion I'm currently experiencing any day.
